New to Reddit but wanted to see what others thought / would’ve done.

Yesterday my parents and younger sibling came from out of town to start our thanksgiving break. I invited them to go to an NBA basketball game that same day, being the first game they go to. We were having a great time, good seats (which I spent $800 on) and great environment. During the third quarter the selfie cam came out, we all scanned the QR code to get on the camera. At the same time, a beer vendor below us was yelling “Cold Beer!” A young guy behind us got up from his seat and waving his hands while screaming for the vendor to throw him one. Me seeing the whole situation, I kind of laughed saying in my head there’s no way of that even happening. Keep in mind, the vendor is at least 5 rows below us and the guy yelling was at least 3 above us. That means there was a total of at least 9 rows between the vendor and the guy asking for a beer. There was no way of anyone thinking that that’s a good idea, especially when you’re in a professional sporting event with an family friendly environment where you wouldnt even imagine that happening especially not from someone that works there. Next thing you know, the guy held the beer like if he’s ready to throw it (me thinking he was messing around), and proceeds to LAUNCH IT at the guy that asked for it. It makes no sense in any way shape or form for him to have done that. Of course the idiot of the vendor missed horribly and the FULL BEER hit my father STRAIGHT IN THE FACE!! We could not even process what had happened, my father got up screaming and we all stood up just kind of processing what had happened. The vendor tried to act it out cool but knew he had messed up. He walked away and came back in a span of the 10 seconds while I reacted and went down to chase him. When I went down he was waking away until I chased him down. He said he was looking for his manager but was walking down to the stands on the other side (makes no sense). I found a manager on the spot and she said she would help, she took me to his manager (he was a third party) and while explaining everything in anger, cops and workers kind of surrounded me to make sure it doesn’t get out of control. They took him to a back room so that i’m not in contact with him anymore. There was not much to do, his manager told me he fired him on the spot, the other manager from the venue took a report down as well with my information but other than that there was not much else to do. They offered medical help and my father just got checked to make sure it wasn’t that severe.

I’ve never experienced anything like this, this genuinely ruined not only our night but probably a good part of our thanksgiving break. I really don’t know what we could’ve done differently, the people behind us said they would’ve not only made a huge deal about it but also even sue the place.

I know this isn’t the venue or the team’s fault but at the same time they hired that third party and one of them is the one that caused the incident. In some way there’re still responsible and we feel there should be some sort of compensation.

Wanted to see what others thought about the situation and see what maybe others would’ve done. Thanks.

List your dad as questionable (face) for Thanksgiving

[–] Godlo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That's insane. What the fuck?

[–] SOB200@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Is your father Ron Artest?

Just a joke.

Sorry to hear your experience was ruined.

At least the dipshit got fired, hopefully you get some free tickets or something.

It's been many years since I've seen a pro sports venue give out a bottle/can without opening or removing the cap first. So I'm a little suspicious here of a vendor throwing a beer 9 rows, as it would have to be closed to not get spilled over the entire section.

But, assuming they did and your story is true, I'm not really sure what you're looking for here? Sounds like your dad is fine and they fired the guy who did it.

There's really no damages to be had here beyond the cost of the tickets, and I'm sure if you get in touch with the team's front office they'll happily give you freebies after verifying with the employees and video footage that it did happen.

"Ruin your Thanksgiving weekend" is absurd and sounds like you're trying to ham up a story for a lawsuit - your dad is fine and if nothing else you got a great story to tell for life.

The beer vendor’s name? Zach Wilson

But real talk that’s fucked

This reads like an allegory

Aside from the danger, who wants to open a beer that's been thrown that far? It's just going to explode.

Make sure to watch your father for any concussion signs. A right after medical check isn't going to always pick up on concussion symptoms.

I can't believe Draymond got away with another one

Seems like they handled it well

You're being dramatic. Unless your father was SERIOUSLY injured, you move on with your life like a normal person and have a great story to tell in the future.

[–] pskill43@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Sorry that this happened. You could consult a lawyer and maybe considering suing the place. They may settle with you and you get some money to make up for the shitty situation

Weird. We don't have beer vendors walking around the arena at Bucks games, only at Brewers games in the stadium. And even then, it's mandatory for them to remove the caps from beers before serving due to the potential for people throwing them onto the field. Not to say I doubt OP, just comes off as an odd scenario...if true tho, that beer vendor done royally fucked up, same with the people at the arena who hired them

If he isn’t hurt you don’t deserve compensation lol, the dude got fired over it, which is fair. No need to go full Karen

this genuinely ruined not only our night but probably a good part of our thanksgiving break

mfw...its incredible how normalized it is to be this soft nowadays. You're going to cry about this for literal days and let it ruin your holiday? Get a fucking grip

Today on things that never happened

Not to be old man yelling at the cloud or anything, but kids get the entire week off for Thanksgiving now. I only remember getting Thursday and Friday off.

I used to sell cokes at college football games and I was cutting across the stands carrying 2 full racks of cokes when I tripped and dumped them on a bunch of high schoolers there for halftime band day (wool uniforms). I ran away.

It ends there unless you get a lawyer and sue them.

The venue isn't going to tell you how to sue them. They're going to apologize and maybe give you some free shit, but if your intention is to make some money or something then it's time to find a lawyer.

But you really haven’t lived until a beer has been thrown at your face.

Take it on the chin wallahi

The third-party beer vendor is responsible for hiring responsible staff and training them appropriately so they don’t do shit like this. Your contract was as a ticket buyer was with the venue, but the vendor is liable to the venue.

Talk to a lawyer.
