Hopefully the metal chassis helps with the heat dissipation. My Atom stack gets so hot I ended up separating them.

They should've done away with proprietory AC power input whose replacements aren't available anywhere else if there is a warranty claim and we end up paying for shipping on that too.

Is there a price yet?

I get that these are not premium products but why no remote? Im not going to get up from my comfy chair to adjust the volume all the time…

[–] Funkbass@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

They’re intended for desktop use.

[–] AdonaelWintersmith@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Why the hell would you ever be constantly adjusting the volume?

[–] ext23@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Those two for $250 are a pretty good deal. Or they would be if I didn't already have a Qudelix.

The original Atom Amp+ uses a single LME49600 buffer per channel. Adding parallel buffers increases power proportionally. However, LME49600s are large chips–not exactly optimal. Replacing the single, large buffer with numerous, less powerful buffers achieves the same goal in less space. Parallel buffers also happen to cancel out some common mode noise, pushing the noise floor even lower.

Damn. Take my money now.

JDS products are great, I have been rocking my The Element gen1 for years now...

[–] dreadispeaxhy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Looking forward to buying this for PS5 when the usb-c fallback cable is available. Whats the difference between the original first one

Now I'm not sure what to buy. Element 3 mk2 (boosted) or the atom 2 stack. The usb-c is a nice inclusion.. I wish they had that on the element 3 as well.

It seems like the element stuff has gotten refreshed shortly after the Atoms previously- maybe it’ll happen again.

I emailed JDS labs and it doesn't seem like that'll be the case, at least into 2024.

Anybody used the stack for gaming? I'm really interested in buying it as my first amp & dac set.
