Hi, I've got some 12" subwoofer boxes and I'm looking for a relatively cheap driver for them (under £50) I've found these two that are close to me and cheap. So far I'm leaning towards the vibe, mostly because of the brand name, however will it be bassier than the devine ba12 My amp can do 400w RMS

The vibe 12" 1200w peak driver: The devine ba12

We or you need to know internal dimensions of the enclosure and if it's ported, horn loaded, sealed, etcetera.

Only then will you know spec scope of an appropriate driver.

The measurements I currently have for my box: https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/audio-in-2023--209347082672576066/ Note that mine has a 12" driver hole, not 14" Rest of the measurements are correct

As others have noted already, without enclosure parameters, it is hard to say much.

However, from what it looks like, the Devine driver is primarily a PA Woofer (W-shaped surround, paper cone, 8 Ohm impedance are all indicators), and won't work well as a subwoofer, as that's probably deeper frequencies than it is designed for. Maximum excursion would also probably be very limited as is usually the case with W-shaped surrounds.

So considering you are looking for "bass" and putting it in a subwoofer enclosure, I'd argue that no matter the enclosure, the Devine BA12 is not suitable for that.

hey, you should consider the internal dimensions of the enclosure and if it's ported, horn loaded, sealed, etcetera to know the spec scope of an appropriate driver. Only then will you know which driver will work best for your setup.

Grs 12SW-4HE is a surprisingly capable subwoofer for $60 on parts express. Check it out and model it in your box to see how it will do.

Grs 12SW-4HE

Thanks for this recommendation, I'm also looking for 12" drivers, and I wondered about this brand. Great prices. I'm using two Atlantic Technology 352 enclosures with external amps.

Some AVS members recommend the Infinity drivers: their reference model is $99 (US). Wonder if these or other budget drivers compare to GRS favorably.

It's a jungle of car audio drivers out there, not easy to find reviews of budget 8ohm drivers for home use!
