This is one of the worst articles I’ve read in recent memory from a purported source of record. Nowhere does it actually expand on the headline. It jumps all over the timeline. The fight information is buried. I think it’s supposed to be a human interest story related to something bad that happened. I’ve sent it to two people who were equally confused.

My interpretation is that the deceased stepped in between some kid and this group of future burdens to the state and unfortunately died for it. Seems like it wasn’t the first time the kid was targeted either. Article probably can’t say much more if it’s still in the courts, which I assume it is; as not all of them have been sentenced yet. I agree the editorialising of the article is dumb though.

Hopefully they make their way into their forever cell and get the same treatment in kind

You’re absolutely right. This article meanders around so much it’s like someone with ADHD wrote it, and I have ADHD. I would not be at all surprised if this thing was written by some wanna be AI copywriter. If this is supposed to a be news article, someone needs to find a new line of work.

Because this is the culture these days. Nobody can just eat some shit and move on anymore. Everything is escalatory all the time, because apparently people would rather literally die or kill than admit to even the smallest error. Or God forbid, demonstrate a modicum of grace. Huge numbers of Americans literally carry guns around so they'll never have to take a single dent to their ego.

And this kind of goes both ways. I hate to be that guy, but when I grew up throwing down over some stupid shit meant you might get hit in the face or hit someone in the face. Absolutely nobody wanted it to go any farther than that. If you knocked someone down and kept going your own boys would pull you off.
