Nothing pisses me off more than political correctness no free speech and terrible reddit mods

Threatening an entire race by wishing them “a dark day” is a little different

[–] Nightwingx97@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

it's a religion not a race btw. Tells you about who's believing zionist propaganda iq

[–] Dark_Wolf04@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Calling for the death of an entire religious group no longer classifies as free speech and goes over to hate speech.

[–] awfullyhotcoffeepot@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Pure free speech is nice conceptually but it’s ultimately not conducive to an ideal society. Things like hate speech laws in the UK go against free speech but ultimately protect marginalised communities from persecution and allow everyone to feel safe.

Being tolerant towards the intolerant leads to disaster

[–] Nihilism101@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It's the tolerant paradox.

Full freedom of speech is an awful idea. If I go into an airport and start threatening to bomb the plane I’m about to get on, I’m going to have consequences for what I said

[–] cuentanueva@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It seems the footballer wasn't that nice...

^(Someone had to say it before they lock the thread...)

[–] lavishlad@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He was a Nice footballer dude, facts don't care about your feelings.

Kids who might only play fifa think this is one of the greatest allround players of all time

EA always gives him the most juiced cards for no apparent reason

[–] BertEnErnie123@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

And always these random positons aswell. He is just one of the sweet childs, same as Rashford and Mbappe, and in the past also Aouar. And there are obviously more that get way to many cards, but these came to mind first

Being critical of what Israel is doing right now is completely fine and I am certainly a supporter of the palestinian struggle, but platforming a preacher calling for a "dark day" for all jews is not something that should be supported either. It's a shame that so many people can't seem to differ between jewish people and israel, it just makes it so much easier for israel to hide behind the "antisemitism" argument whenever their actions are called into question. However, antisemitism is still a big issue in the pro-palestinian camp.

[–] GoatBass@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (4 children)

You mean kinda how Israelis can't see the difference between people stuck in an open air prison versus Hamas sympathizers?

[–] leebrother@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Perfect reply

[–] nedzissou1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Yeah, they're just as wrong as the preacher.

[–] GoatBass@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It's not about that. It's how anyone supporting the freedom of Palestinians is treated to a draconian moral standard where the messaging always has to be perfect. Whereas Zionist politicians can openly say hateful things and at best get a handwriting non-response from the US.

[–] FL8_JT26@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

The messaging doesn't have to be perfect it just can't be 'kill all the jews', it's not exactly a high bar.

Which is weird considering an „open air prison" is usually defined as a ghetto.

If most of the anti Israel really cared about the Palestinians, you’d get the same amount of people protesting wrongs in Saudi, Yemen, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, slave trade in Libya etc.

Instead you get 10-20x more interest because a lot of these protestors are actually antisemite using this as a platform to spew their hatred.

Are there decent people? Sure. However just by looking at the magnitude of difference between this conflict and any other conflict should tell you that something else is driving it

[–] nafraf@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

People care about this conflict because major powers with deep pockets have made it the top geopolitical priority in the region. Between the US and the rich Arab Gulf countries, over a trillion dollars were probably spent funding and promoting this conflict.

As much as people like to think of themselves as independent thinkers, the average person's opinion on foreign affairs is largely shaped by the geopolitical interests of their countries. The reason your average American cares about Taiwan and not the countless territorial disputes elsewhere in the world is largely the result of the US-China political escalation. It's also why people in the west are all of a sudden "care" about Uyghurs and their century-long issues with the central Chinese government and not people who are actually getting genocided as we speak like the Amhara in Ethiopia.

I can’t believe placing a giant religious symbol in the middle of the flag is causing people to conflate the two.

No calling out the terrorist attack in Ireland?

[–] gluxton@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The comment was so anti-Semitic that even this sub's mental gymnastics may struggle to cover for him.

[–] Elias98x@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m confused, was he detained only cuz he’s famous? Yes the preacher he reposted is radical preacher but aren’t like 99.9% of Muslim preachers radical 🤣

[–] revenge_of_hamatachi@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Its funny how those who say they are simply trying to defend Palestinian people always seem to revert to open antisemitism and Khaybar ya yahud chants.

Holy shit it's not locked

[–] AbouMba@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

He would have gotten away with it in france had he said "Radical Judaism" instead of "Jewish people".

That is how right wing parties there get away with racism against muslims. They never explicitly criticize muslims, but the "radical islam" or "political islam".

Because an idea can be hated, but not people.

This Imam is obviously an amateur racist.
