Whenever people bring up what made Michael Jordan great, one of the things is always how big his hands were, but I never really got it. Don't all NBA players have big hands and the ability to palm a ball? Like, I'm only 6'3 and I can do that shit pretty easily.

Jordan's hands are a huge outlier. There's a difference between palming a ball and being able to do one handed pump fakes as if you're holding a baseball.

It is one of the key differences between him and Kobe.

Because of his hand size, everything he does is just 1-2% easier than Kobe, that 1-2% is a big gap between players of that level.

Physical gifts matter.

Imagine how much easier rim finishing would be if you could palm a basketball like it was a volleyball. That’s how much control they had over the ball.
