Whatever one might think about his conservative politics and anti-vax perspectives, I think we can all agree that it's sad to see a talented athlete have nearly four years of his prime wiped away by injury.

Due to a couple of injuries, the later being an ACL injury, during the bubble, Isaac only played 34 games in the 2019/20 season and then missed the 2020/21 and 2021/22 season.

He returned in 2022/23, but got a torn left adductor muscle after only playing 11 games.

As of tonight's win over Boston, Issac has played 14 games playing reserve minutes but posting a respectable 17/11 per36 with impressive 2.5 steals per36 and 3.6 blocks per36.

That means he has played more games this year than the last three seasons combined and is on pace to play more games than the last FOUR seasons combined.

It's a shame he missed so much time in the years when he really would have been coming into his own and when he seemed to be developing, but here's to hoping that his health holds up from here on out.

Interesting factoid:

fac·toid [ˈfaktɔɪd] NOUN an item of unreliable information that is reported and repeated so often that it becomes accepted as fact

Literally the opposite of a fact.

I’m not rooting for a bigot who’s only in the league because the team he plays for also use him as a political sock puppet……NBA should investigate

[–] Boomer2637@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

You think another team wouldn’t take him?

[–] ColonelWKurtz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I think another team would’ve been traded him for cap relief or another player in a heartbeat. What other team would stick with a player for THREE SEASONS with the limited games he played???

God is good all the time

[–] agk927@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Glad that he's playing well! Injuries are horrible and I hate them

[–] toq-titan@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Psssh. So what, so has Zion.

[–] Headlesshorsman02@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Glad to hear it, such a great defender, hopefully he can continue to stay healthy

[–] _Zap_Rowsdower_@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Good for him.

[–] Salamat_osu@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Is it finally his time? Hoping he finally gets a chance to be the guy a lot were speculating

Dudes a shit head but has a ton of talent.

[–] _MakingModernMen_@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Dude is one of the most well spoken and respectful dudes in the NBA, extremely active in the community, and lives strongly by his values. So of course Reddit atheist edgelords call him a shithead. You couldn’t sound any more ignorant if you tried

[–] thechort7@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Went to church and gave a sermon where he basically said that his teammates don't love God.

So respectful.

[–] FriendlyPipesUp@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Respectful? Give it 5 years he’ll be the next Josh Giddey

I remember having discussions with family and online about how I honestly think JI will takeover the NBA. He was up there for me with Giannis and KD, his defense was so gamechanging those years (still is but this is JI with more bounce more speed more sound laterally). He would completely swallow entire possessions and then run up court hit a smooth euro and get an And1. He was showing improvements from 3 back then also. I just felt it in JI, then these injuries hit, but everytime he came back his defense was always there so there was always hope. JI imo is truly back, still needs to be kept bubble wrapped but he is a difference maker for this team and to me can be a deciding force for championship contention.

[–] dash_44@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Congrats to him, that’s gotta feel good.

[–] LinuxDootTP@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

everyone said he was cooked after his season ending injury last year, and im here for JI, the Redeemer

We should not use per36 stats for a guy average less than 14 minutes a game. Completely wrong way to use that stat and not what it's intended for.

He went down grabbing his ankle tonight and I almost threw up. Then he jumped up and walked to the sideline and I got hoodwinked.

[–] Batcatnz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

More games but less minutes? He's playing like 12 or less minutes a game. lol

[–] neophyteNQ@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Per 36 he's an elite player though 👏

Serious factoids here only 💡

[–] nolefan999@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

And tonight was his first game in those 14 that he didn’t record a steal or block.

[–] testiclefrankfurter@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Does Isaac trust the doctors who repaired his ACL but not the ones administering vaccines?

[–] VersusCA@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I'm not surprised at all that the Magic have been good this year but it has been a pleasant surprise to see him start the year healthy. As much as I hate his politics he doesn't seem like an awful person on the tier of Bridges/Kevin Porter/(maybe) Giddey so I can't find myself rooting against him too much. Plus it makes me kind of nostalgic for 2019 when he seemed like the next big thing and it's kind of cool that the same team has stuck with him so long.

[–] Large_Mango@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

You can’t compare Giddey to the other two

That's a fact, not a factoid.

That was a long post for about a half sentence of info with none of it being new or interesting in any way

[–] Latter-News-2851@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

This thread is full of the typical numbskulls that would be fans of Jonathan Isaac. Jumping through so many hoops to be a victim. Pathetic, sad, embarrassing. If you consider yourself a fan of Jonathan Isaac, you seriously need to evaluate your life and examine your priorities. Because you’re not a fan of his basketball playing.

[–] Latter-News-2851@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The discussions in this thread are enough for it to be reasonable to get rid of Jonathan Isaac in the NBA. I do not wanna talk about this shit everytime this fucker has ten rebounds. Absolutely loved the years he wasn’t playing.

[–] FriendlyPipesUp@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Any player that regularly goes on Fox News to ramble is a fucking idiot and can get fucked

[–] Galbracj@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The last time Jonathan Isaac played 20 min in an NBA game was Dec 30th.
