Like what? I didn't know they were this good, the definition even with crappy aac is super good and you can hear every single instrument clearly, I knew people said they were good but I'm surprised apple cared so much about sound quality

That’s because they are literally in your ears so it’s a diff experience compared to overhead headphones

The xm4's were just THAT BAD.

I have a pair of xm4s that I use in my woodshop when I'm running loud machines.

Because I can't hear how terrible they sound in there.

The pro 1s were pretty lackluster and I think a lot of people figured the 2 was continuing that trend, but the 2 is significantly better IMO

AAC is still very decent, as far as I'm concerned.

Not a lot of people do, but I love using Spatial Audio. Makes it sound like the music is surrounding you.

aac is really underestimated since the commercial propaganda for aptx and LDAC, still aptx I want because it removes latency but sincerely... LDAC, on headphones with the audio driver literally costs 20 bucks to manufacture... yes I'm talking about those of the Sony xm5/xm4 and airpods pro 2.. they sound good, yes, very good even, wired the equivalent would be around 100 euros, I had an xm4 but the same thing they died, I tried not long ago the sound of the AirPods Pro 2 which is similar after equalization, but I took the Buds2 Pro because I have a Z Fold 5...honestly the sound of the 3 is identical after equalization, but I assure you that the difference between Mp3/aac and uncompressed, it can only be heard on my very very expensive hi-fi headphones :') eand again if your bag is very very well mixed with my eyes closed I can sometimes make a mistake

XM4s sound surprisingly good, particularly if you're using them as your portable quiet room in the middle of a noisy environment. They have outstanding ANC.

But there are tradeoffs to everything, including ANC. I've owned the XM3s, XM4s, the WH-1000MX4s and the WH-1000XM5s. For the typical use case, they're quite enjoyable - for awhile. Listen to them long enough and you may realize how congested they are. The elevated bass doesn't help. For many listeners, that thumpy bass is the selling point. If you've discovered you can't live with it, that's a sign you have discriminating tastes.

AAC on Android is crappy, but on iPhone? Hell naw! It becomes one of the best codecs available for BT transmission.

anyone using the airpods with android? lol stupid question but they have nice cases :(

[–] Quickstep3138@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Not worth it sadly, tried but the AAC quality on Android isn't the same as it is on iPhone. You also lose all the functionality you get on iPhone such as auto pase when you remove them, or volume control.

damn, thank you for the info! i guess I have to switch to iPhone to fully utilize it..

Confusing tittle. What is the “wtf” refer to here? That your XM4 suddenly died or that Airpods sounds amazing? Be a real man and upgrade to XM5. Show some brand loyalty 😀

"Crappy ANC".

Don't buy into snake-oil.
