NBA wants players to show no emotions, even though fans love when they do.

I wish they were this strict with flops..

[–] Mike420666@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

More techs have been called just for looking at the defender who got dunked on to hard…apparently you have to help them off the floor

[–] KungFuSlanda@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It was not the hang. It was the pull up launch after the fact

[–] node19@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I feel like LeBron is low-key, protesting the recent calls. He knew exactly what he was doing, wasn’t surprised by the ref call, and just. moment after the dunk you can see him hanging on the rim, thought about it and then pulled .

[–] Derrickmb@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

When is the NBA going to sell ref jerseys?

[–] Rambogoingham1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fucking hate basketball now

[–] Senior_Apartment_343@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Adam silver needs to go

[–] CIint_Beastwood87@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Nba so soft smh

[–] kuliebop@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

LeBron (sometimes rightly) complains about a lot of calls / no-calls.

He accepts this one (as he wasn't doing it to protect himself or anyone else), but the comments section here goes into refs bad overdrive.

Do the refs get commissions for each tech they hand out?

I feel like the refs who give out less techs should be rewarded, instead of these ones.

[–] ljrubbo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It is a very dumb rule, but it is not inconsistent. The tech wasn’t for hanging on the rim too long. The rule is you are allowed to hang to steady yourself, but you are not allowed to pull up on the rim. It was that last second where his elbow is 90 degrees that caused the tech.

[–] jcbubba@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

can we talk about how great a pass that was?

[–] verangler@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

These are the kinds of rules that make the NBA suck

[–] waysofthrow@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If the rim is going ro get damaged it'll be with his dunking force, not his pull up force.

These techs are so stupid. If the rims being bent on dunks, either produce a rim with higher electric strain or find a way to replace them quickly. Maybe a "clip in" system or something as simple as less and larger fasteners.

[–] hoosierspiritof79@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

What a great pass.

[–] maramDPT@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

A dunking rule.

Those who wrote it cannot dunk.

Useless

[–] Indylatino@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Soft ass league

[–] Cabes86@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Just like our man Tatum, he hung on the rim purely to not hurt himself and received a tech for it—well to make the betting odds or whatever the fucking degenerate gamblers care about.

[–] Lopsided-Mobile2197@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The man is swinging backwards for Christ’s sake.

[–] SlowCrates@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He was like, "Yep, my bad."

[–] ZeroEve@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

lol this is why I don’t watch regular season nba

[–] hacky_potter@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Did the NBA pick up a bunch of NFL refs looking to punish some fun?

[–] minimallyviablehuman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think NBA players should unite and all decide to start hanging on the rim after every dunk. They’ll call techs and it’ll make the game unwatchable for a few days. The players can say “hanging on the rim is about safety, you are not taking this from us” and double down. The NBA would change the rule to be reasonable. If there is anyone even close to the rim, it should be legal.

[–] mitch8017@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s been a great season to be a ref fan. Wow.

[–] raceforseis21@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes I understand that he got T’d up for the pull-up. No I don’t know why that deserves a T

[–] Targetonmyback07@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fuck the fun police , get some hang time boys

[–] Yomat@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s not the hanging, it’s the pull up. Same with Tatum’s the other night.

[–] TheZoloftMaster@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Thank god the league is finally doing something about this! Rimjobs are really hurting the game that I love! Hopefully next they start fining dunks!

[–] DrJayDubs@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

FUCK these technicals

[–] hankbaumbach@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Looks like it was for the pull up more than the hang.

Pulling yourself up on the rim is always a tech, hanging on it is hit or miss.

[–] JeanRalfio@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yes, that's why he nodded and wasn't upset about it. Not sure why most of this sub can't realize that too.

[–] CommonConundrum51@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well, you're not supposed to hang on the rim, and it is a technical, but LeBron James!?

[–] PerspectiveOdd5486@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He’s good 😌

[–] TrafficOn405@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The man did a cheesy playground level pull-up on the rim, he earned that technical.

[–] Trainxrd@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'd like to think it asinine to ref all the fun parts outta the game but the NBA's continued success tells me people eat that shit up like its popcorn

[–] Conan4457@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Stupid tech. I’m no LBJ fan either.

[–] ClydeGriffiths17@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Why did this need to be a point of emphasis? Who asked for this?

[–] questionmycomment@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Adam silver must be so proud

[–] 18FeetUp@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m not a LeBron fan, but this is ridiculous. Maybe the lift at the end “wasn’t necessary,” but c’mon. Athlete’s are entertainers for the fans. Nobody shows up, ok…maybe like 3 people, to cheer on the officials!

[–] FlatTopTonysCanoe@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Let’s take this thing that hypes up fans and make it a punishable offense lol This is like if the MLB penalized pimping a homer. Why are players feelings more important than fan engagement? Assuming that’s the only thing this rule protects.

[–] ok_asclepius@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

As an admittedly non-NBA fan, this is some flair that makes the NBA cool. Harmless, not directed at anyone, just a little extra something that makes the game fun. Unlike the flippant use of defensive fouls to make the game more offense oriented.

Between the increase in flops and deleting a laid back fun little rim pull up, the product appears worse to me. I'm not saying bring back the tea-bag rim jobs but, we don't have to erase all character.

[–] henry_mardukas@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This has always been a technical. Not sure what the big deal is

[–] Serenadingthrough@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The referees are ruining the game with these unnecessary T’s.

[–] balls_in_yo_mouth@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

This is the dumbest rule ever. It’s so hard to not do a natural mini pull up after making a thunderous funk like that. What’s the rationale behind this ?

[–] Motor-breath@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

the fun police..
