Hi guys, my birthday is coming up and I can get a watch for USD 300 and under. Currently have a GShock and Armani dress watch, what watch would be nice to add my collection? For context, I’m 18M, currently thinking a Moonswatch (Neptune) and change the strap. Thoughts or any recommendations?

The moonswatch is not serviceable. For your 18th birthday I would say buy something you can keep and look back to in the years to come. You can find lots of styles at the 300 usd mark, just buy one that speaks to you from a real watch brand (not fashion brand).

Have a look at pagani designs mission to Alaska, a ten times better watch at a quarter of the price....

The Moonswatch is not a bad choice for your age and it's a cool looking watch in general. But for the same price you can also get a Tissot PRX Quarz, a nice Seiko or a Citizen Tsuyosa, all watches that have much better build quality compared to the Moonswatch.

I posted this on another thread so I'd just copy + post it here word for word:

With your budget, I'd go with quality more than "brand" recognition and Islander Watches punches way above their weight.

I'd suggest:

  • Islander Manhasset 36mm Automatic - $285, 36mm, automatic NH36 movement, sapphire crystal w/ AR coating, sapphire display case back, milled clasp, timeless design and should fit any situation. Can't think of another watch that ticks all the boxes or is better for this price.
