It may literally be hanging on by a thread

[–] meekah@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Wait, the common phrase does come from a fiber thread though right? O.O

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 9 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Yes, but it is applicable here.

[–] meekah@lemmy.world 10 points 1 month ago

Absolutely, it just made me question the origin of that phrase that I assumed, because it also makes perfect sense here.

Rattle gun and send it, compress that rubber down.

Keep going until the bolt breaks, the replace with one 15mm longer and some loctite

[–] lemming741@lemmy.world 14 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Can't be THAT high a pressure on a cast valve and rubber gaskets

[–] suodrazah@lemmy.world 34 points 1 month ago (1 children)

"Lowest bidder" - The whole job has to be ripped out and redone. He used heaps of second hand crap too. It's a real mess. You should see his companies electrical work. They don't have a mechanical services or electrical license. It's a wonderful situation.

[–] meekah@lemmy.world 18 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Who decided that bids from unlicensed workers were accepted? Ridiculous

[–] suodrazah@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Yup. You're telling me! He "borrowed" a license from a mate... it's all cooked up. He's in a fair amount of trouble.

[–] meekah@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Oh god yeah that does sound like it should get him in plenty of trouble. I get buerocracy can be crazy annoying but this is just unacceptable

Well at least the lawsuit will pay for it

You are suing them right? Get everyone involved.

[–] prex@aussie.zone 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

High pressure seems to mean different things in different situations. eg:water jet vs UHP water blasting vs tapered coupling installation vs um, tyre inflation?

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

In advanced fire eating tech, high pressure means a gentle breeze

[–] magnetosphere@fedia.io 11 points 1 month ago

Don’t let anyone you like working with mess with it. When it inevitably fails, they’ll blame the last person to touch it, not the installer.

[–] thagoat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Much longer if you righty-tighty that nut my friend

[–] Ditti@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 1 month ago

From the looks of it, they ran out of screw, hence it looking like it's not tightened.

[–] lemming741@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago (1 children)

In motor controls and power distribution, 600V three phase is low voltage. Up to 69,000 volts is "medium" voltage lol

[–] suodrazah@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Missed opportunity for 69420 volts.

[–] rkk@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Ohh the title took me a few seconds... 😅

I guess? First thing that came to mind.

Yes, my brain is fully rotten.

[–] suodrazah@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Haha this too, but actually this

[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

The bolt should go all the way through the nut.

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago

I still dont get.

All I can hear is the lord of the rings tune

[–] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] onslaught545@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Is it because I took your hat?

[–] I_Has_A_Hat@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Because you didn't explain the title.

[–] Pothetato@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Yeah it took me a few minutes too haha... 😅

...still counting

[–] DemBoSain@midwest.social 2 points 1 month ago

This is just poor engineering. They could save money by using jam nuts.

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] witty_username@feddit.nl 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

0.001 bar? That would be a low pressure system

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

They asked how long the flange in that set up before a leak. I don't see it holding at all like that.
