it just randomly dawned on me , especially amidst the Thanksgiving holiday, that this is the time of giving

that the main incentive the league gave the players to be engaged more with the tournament was cash prizes or whatever

but what about adding a charitable component?

like each team plays for and represents a charity and the winner gets a million dollars , 2nd place gets half a million and so on , and every team that doesnt get out the group stage still receives like 50 grand or whatever towards their charity

it just seems like the NBA has ample money and its the least they could do ….

just a random thought but

I don't remember the exact details, but one time Steph missed a bunch of charity shots and I think some children died.

I'm afraid money would end up going to Susan B. Komen or something. Better to let the players and owners do their normal charitable tax deductions without involving fans rooting for or against causes.

Charities are just a means for nba players to dispose of some of the money before it gets taxed... making it charitable doesnt change anything. All all star events are just a shell of what they once were and including charities in them does not change how much effort they put into it.

Just wait till it goes to a pro or anti life charity. Or a blm one. That's gonna be great
