I've seen mixed opinions on this watch but I've owned it for 7 months and I love it. This one is never leaving the collection.

Here are a few reasons I love this watch, in rough descending order.

  • The MT5402 movement is astonishingly accurate: With 81 days' worth of timing runs it's tracking -0.6 seconds per day.
  • Much has been said about the T-Fit clasp: It's true, all of it. It's amazing. The bracelet is outstanding.
  • The dial is simple but the details really do pop in person. The hands are mirror bright, the red tip on the second hand and the cream-colored lume all add subtle details that are quite pleasing. The marketing pictures make the lume look green. It isn't really. Also, about as legible as they come.
  • It's a tank. I've banged it numerous times and nary a scratch to be seen. Maybe under a loupe? But not to the naked eye. Anyway, who cares, I'm going to be buried in it.
  • The case is great. The polished bezel edge is another delightful touch. In sunlight and from the side, the bezel edge shines and the light playing on the crystal creates a halo effect that is lovely.
  • It's low-key. I've had three people spot it in 8 months. That's the way I like it.
  • It's versatile: No, you wouldn't wear it to a black tie or very dressy occasions. But a conference? Church? Hiking the Appalachian Trail? Absolutely.

It's a steal at $3k, in my honest opinion.

Anyway, new to the group, newish to Reddit. Had an account for a previous job but this is my first personal account and I'm excited to be part of the r/watches community.

It is a nice watch. Same case as the BB58 which is an awesomeness case but I found the BB58 to visually look too small on me but the Ranger looked just right. Ranger had a better bracelet too.

That said, the faux patina is what turned me off. I'm not always against faux patina if in small doses but this just has too much of it for me.

Thats a lot of words to self-validate your opinion

It's a very clean, well executed and slightly boring watch that isn't a Rolex Explorer. There's nothing wrong with it, just – there isn't much to talk about.

Among the best values in watches today, I just can’t get over how cartoonish the font of the numerals look.

The only thing I don’t like about it is its size. Has it been a 36 it would probably already be in my box.

They got just about every tiny detail right. The bezel slope, thickness of the rehaut, shape of the crystal’s dome, shade of the patina. It’s all perfect.

I’m personally not a fan but I see the appeal

It’s a nice watch. I see lots of plaudits for it too. I personally prefer some similar watches to it, but that takes nothing away from the Ranger. I think it’s nicer than the Explorer, certainly.

What’s the lug-to-lug of this one?
