Every US commentator is pronouncing it as Christian Brown and they shouldn't be because last time I checked there's no A or U in the word Brown. It should be pronounced like the word brawn (as in physical strength). I've been to school with kids with same surname and they definitely didn't pronounce it Brown. What's the story here?

He’s pronouncing it the German way. English speaking countries tend to Anglicise the pronunciation to sound like ‘brawn’, but in other countries (like Japan) it retains its German pronunciation.

He pronounces his own name the 'correct', German way - Brown. More than one language on this planet

But still, get outta here with "should be pronounced". Names adapt and can be pronounced any way their owner wants them to

Should they be? Obviously it isn't against the law, but for the sake of being able to communicate with one another as easily as possible we shouldn't have to teach every single person we meet how to pronounce our names. It's ridiculous.

This is either 10/10 troll or one of the dumbest posts I’ve ever seen in my life.

I suck at pronouncing my own last name. I often have to dumb it down for others for my own sake.

It came from himself Brown it is

Brown. It's literally the German way of saying the colour as well.

On a side note, I'm surprised no non-Balkan commentator other than Spero Dedes is able to pronounce either Nikola or Jokić properly. And the weirdest part is, they come way closer to the intended pronunciation with Nikola Vučević's name. For some reason, they pronounce Nikola differently for these two even though it's the same name.

Braun is a german name and the -au- in german equals the pronounciation of the -ow- in Brown. So hes pronounced correctly.
