Tied for the longest active streak in the league. The last time Orlando had a 7 game winning streak was January 2011 during the tail end of the Dwight Howard / SVG era.

[–] timberwolvesguy@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Certainly would be in Minnesota’s market!

[–] TA_Account_12@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Who amongst us hasn’t wanted a wcj/rudy battle.

[–] sylsau@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Without making any noise, the Magic are offering us a true renaissance this season. Stunning!

[–] StanVanGhandi@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Oh, we are making noise, just no one is listening.

[–] Which_Chemical4131@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

One trade for a legit point guard with good 3pt shot away from making some serious noise

[–] 36Vigilantes@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Is third place in the entire league not serious noise?

[–] groceriesN1trip@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Not for a deep playoff run

[–] tyrannosorrels@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Golden State finished the season tied for 3rd in 22. Bucks were 3rd in the East in 21. Lakers had the 3rd best pre-bubble record in 20. Barring injuries to KD and Klay, the third-best Warriors would have won in 19. Warriors finished 3rd in 2018. Cavs finished 3rd in 2016. 6 out of the last 8 years, a team that finished 3rd or worse in the league made the finals. 5 out of those 6, that team won the title. Maybe do a non-zero amount of research before talking out your ass.

[–] Brady331@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Not sure what that person meant but the Magic having no playoff experience must be taken into account

[–] tyrannosorrels@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Sure, but that wasn't their argument.

[–] 36Vigilantes@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Someone on here who can follow a thought, hope is still alive.

[–] groceriesN1trip@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Last season, we saw a few teams rise quickly in the beginning 25 games of the season and then not sustain it.

Being 3rd right now means Jack shit considering the Lakers were awful til they traded Westbrook and then made it to the WCF.

The Magic have zero experience in the playoffs. They’re not doing shit this year but keep on keeping on with all that talk

[–] tyrannosorrels@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Thanks for clarifying. I don’t disagree with anything you said here; the problem is that you didn’t say it until now.

[–] groceriesN1trip@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

To be fair, it’s the Magic… how much explaining do I actually need to do?

[–] Sw3Et@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Deep playoff run ain't noise

[–] groceriesN1trip@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Okay, 3rd place in the first quarter of the season ain’t noise.

Noise is made in the playoffs or finishing top seed while top 5 in both offense and defense.

No ones worried about the Magic at 3rd in the first 18 or so games

[–] Sw3Et@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

You're over-selling the concept of "noise". That phrase is just used to signify that something is coming. What you're comparing it to is the act of already being there. By that point it's no longer just noise.

[–] groceriesN1trip@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I can see your point and also disagree with it and have a different perspective. Cheers!

[–] WelcometoCigarCity@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Happy for the Magic other that once season where they went to the post season with Vucevic theyve been dogshit since Dwight left

[–] Ok-Yak5081@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Magic made it to the playoffs twice w Vuc & gang

[–] ThatsWat_SHE_Said@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

For real, they even won BOTH game ones during those 2 playoff appearances before getting bounced out in 5 games. They've been to the playoffs 3 times since 2011 going 1-4 in each.

[–] AB-AA-Mobile@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (3 children)

Are they really that good? Or is this a fluke?

[–] Op3rat0rr@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

It's actually an accounting error. Magic are actually in 6th place. The guy who made the mistake got fired don't worry. Probably won't happen again

[–] groceriesN1trip@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

We’ll all have confidence around game 50

[–] Sw3Et@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

We're playing very well, but feel like we're catching teams unaware. Once teams start showing some respect we might struggle a bit more.

[–] AB-AA-Mobile@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

I don't quite understand how the Magic are doing so well right now. I like their defense, but they don't seem to have that much spacing. At best, they're an average team on offense. Their success doesn't look sustainable.

[–] Sw3Et@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

The pessimist in me agrees with you, but they've kept it going longer than I thought they would and still seem to be improving. The more confidence they get, the more their shots are dropping. We also have some extremely slithery paint finishers who can do a lot with very little spacing.

[–] AB-AA-Mobile@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Well I hope this is the real deal. It's good to see them succeeding. I'm particularly rooting for Jonathan Isaac to get better.

[–] zackarykapowski@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Defense is elite with insane length and athleticism. We have elite finishers in the paint and usually dominate the painted area. Crash the offensive glass a ton to offset some of our shooting struggles and create many turnovers to get out on the break.

That’s how.

[–] TheBaconD@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

NBA champions ngl

[–] martinap@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

The Magic are just a really well rounded team. Good size and great effort on the defensive end. I think one more shooter would really help them, but there’s no doubt they are playoff bound if they keep up this level of play.

[–] MVPPB5@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I bet a small farm preseason on the magic making the playoffs and also winning 36.5 games. I’d really like a free month long vacation in Bali

[–] misterdave75@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I feel like the 36.5 is basically free money at this point.

[–] jaydogggg@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Gotta give them their props for quietly being one of the best teams this year

[–] BucktoothedMC@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Their backup unit’s plus minus is pretty insane. Harris Jingles and Issac is a nightmare backup unit. Also Shoutout to Goga and Mo Wagner for somehow anchoring the #1 defense in the league.

[–] KnowledgePrevious@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Cole Anthony has been crazy effective from the bench too

[–] Drisurk@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Love to see the Magic and the Twolves at the top of the standings! Gives me hope for our future.

[–] ReflectionItchy2701@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

They made the right choice with Paolo Banchero. And Wagner is a baller too. Well coached team.

[–] ProfessorTicklebutts@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Really happy for these guys. Watched them a ton on LP last season and you could see this coming.

[–] SoupyLogan@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

The magic this year are equivalent to last years Kings imo

[–] Visible-Training-69@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

They are kind of the opposite. Great defense mediocre offense
