Personally, I think if you shrunk someone like LeBron down to 6’0” they’d still make an impact on the game where on the other hand if you shrunk someone like Giannis down to 6’0” he probably wouldn’t be in the league. Is there anyone you think could still be effective in the league at a shrunken height, whether it be from 6’11” -> 6’6” or 6’6” -> 6’0”?

Lebron shrunk down to 6’0 is basically prime Chris Paul

Chris Paul’s shooting off the dribble is leagues better than lebrons

The skill that I think isn’t translating here is ball handling. Someone like LeBron or Kawhi or KD has amazing ball handling for their size but wouldn’t really be playable at 6 feet. There’s just a huge gap between the handle of Chris Paul and your very good wing or big.

Right now on the Warriors I watch Klay, Wiggins and Kuminga all with handles like your average high school JV player and they’re all playable wings bc of their size. Drop them even a few inches and they’re all out of the league.

I disagree. I think LeBron and KD do have elite ball handling. It just looks a little looser when you are taller, the handle will look tighter of you shrink them.

I do agree with you about the other guys not having a handle.

I've always told people who ask about Barkleys game is that he was like a bigger Westbrook. So Barkley would be Westbrook.

[–] ForneauCosmique@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I've never looked at it that way but you're right

A lot of the elite skilled players

Naming a few

Kevin Durant Shaq bout 6 inches could still bully his defender Wilt Magic Bird Jordan Maybe wemby could still find his way into the league

Shaq about 6 inches shorter is just Big Baby. A good reliable role player but not dominate at the pro level.

[–] Key_Fox3289@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Why would he be big baby and not Zion??

[–] The_Captain_Planet22@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Curry is the most obvious option. If he was 5'10 he would be the exact same player

Oh brother it’s gonna be a long Monday

Are we assuming increased speed from the loss of height? I’m saying 7’0 wembanyama either way.

Cole Anthony could be 4ft tall and he'd still be rebounding like a 6'8 guy

Honey, I Shrunk the Jason Kidd!

[–] The_Captain_Planet22@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Yao Ming. If you shrink Yao to a miniscule 7'0 he'd still be very good potentially still HOF and his body might have held out for a longer career

[–] Randvek@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Lebron in his prime could play at 6’, but I don’t think the 38 year old version of him would be.

[–] davygravy1337@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Nassir Little

[–] totallynotliamneeson@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

If you shrunk Giannis down he'd just be Westbrook.

[–] Vordeo@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

You could shrink Thanasis by a foot and he'd still be in the league.

[–] embiid0for11w0pts@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Zion, if shrunk on the X axis

[–] Ramu_1798@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

How the fuck does it matter? It's as stupid as asking "Would Steph Curry be in the league if we gave him the shooting powers of James Harden in an elimination game?"

[–] bibi_da_god@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Is it the off-season already?

[–] Smiis@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

On the Magic, Franz is the obvious answer. Six inches shorter, he’s still 6’4” with no discernible weakness

[–] Alienhandshake@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Ausar Thompson

[–] Mountain-Way6904@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Jalen Brunson, I already think he's 5'9" watching him dominate (he's 6'2").

[–] yutzykrop@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

KD shrunken down to 6’5”/6’6” while keeping his wingspan differential, is likely an elite SG.

[–] bagpiper12345678@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Jokic would be playable I think down to 6'4". I couldn't tell you what his mobility would be like, because I'm sure his height affects that. But supposing he didn't change that much in his speed or physicality, he could still be an effective player at multiple positions, though i think if he were less than 6'4" he'd need better mobility and/or physicality.
