How many are and 1s that he scores on anyway

I absolutely hate how the NBA is reffed. Basketball is a contact sport and the game would be so much better if they went with the style of FIBA refs where defenders don't have to jump out of the way of attackers without risk of getting called for a foul.

All that said, drawing fouls is a skill that is incredibly effective. Players should be trying to draw fouls.

Ah yes R/nba’s favorite daily pastime. Obsessing over hating Joel Embiid.

Can we add a Jokic ball licking post to just really make it perfect?

[–] Mr_Saxobeat94@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Tbf Philly fans do make it quite easy to hate on their athletes, even if I personally don’t :p

[–] Acework23@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

its why he is trash when the playoffs come and game is allowed to be more pysical

[–] ColossalPlaya36@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

i know lebron isn't really involved in this post but it's just crazy he's only at 6.1 per game this season, given how much his play style still revolves around the rim

[–] dedman1477@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (3 children)

Well, the NBA can't be out here allowing the old face of the league to get more free throw calls if they want to replace him with someone younger! Gotta artificially pump up Embiid's stats somehow!

[–] Faxodox@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Lol Lebron got pushed in the back at the cavs game, the cavs challenged and somehow won the challenge. clear forearm pushing him too

[–] ChunkyMilkSubstance@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Not to mention got hit in the face on a lay up attempt

[–] KingVibrant@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Lmfao it’s so funny hearing every non-lakers home broadcast being like “welp it’s LeBron James he will get those calls!” Whenever he gets fouled even slightly while he is bulldozing to the rim without flopping and Embiid can just flail and get 12 FTA a game.

It’s why he is the Harden of Centers, that playstyle isn’t winning you shit.

[–] SikeShay@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

Cavs bros know how it feels, it's been happening his whole career. He's just too strong on the initial contact, hence why the flopping afterwards

Dude is not knocking down his jumpers like he usually does

[–] wearing_the_letter_O@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

First time? Dame has a knack for starting slow. I wouldn't start being concerned until after the AS break.

[–] Kevin_Jim@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Having Dame drive is a game changer in the 4th. He gets the ball on our side, and you don’t have to be scared out of your mind what is going to happen, and teams are scared to foul him.

Before you know it, he is already at the other side, driving to the paint, drawing contact and going to the line.

And if things don’t work, you have an elite passer to organize your offense in the clutch. Which is as big for us because Giannis feeds off of that and is feasting in the clutch.

If we are not the most clutch team in the league, we are close to that.

What's more important is that there's still huge room for improvement, all around.

Hardenesque, one might say

[–] NeptuneEDM@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I call posting this the next hour

[–] Fede113@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I think his free throws attempts is a clear example of how big guys can dominate in today small nba, if you have the skill and the size to capitalize. Embiid is one of the heaviest and tallest players in the nba, and usually the biggest guy in the court. There is very little most guys can do to stop him without fouling, and he is also pretty nimble for a guy his size.

can you imagine Shaq in todays game?

[–] shazam482@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

You know Jokic plays in the league?

[–] ruffrightmeow@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (4 children)

I mean that’s how he got the highest PPG last season

The problem is not Embiid getting those calls is that only he is getting this type of calls. Other players can get murdered on the floor and still not get a whistle. That is why his game seems unfair

He also leads the league in Minutes on the Ground.

This is an incredibly random thing to post on a thread about Embiid's free throws

The single worst star to watch in the entire league. I genuinely don’t know how Philly fans can watch full seasons of this guy go to the line constantly

[–] crsitain@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

His entire game is ram through the middle. He gets blessed with calls on any amount of contact. Kindve impossible to guard against

Not a 76ers fan.

A couple are definitely superstar calls but I hate to say it he does get NBA fouled a lot in the area a ton.

He takes a ton of shots and gets sent to the foul line where he gets a bunch of free throws.

People don't complain about Giannas because he misses a ton.

[–] shazam482@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

LOL everyone complains about Giannis's free throws. Why do you think away crowds do the countdown?

[–] Stormeve@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

He’s generational, no, all-timer at drawing fouls. TBH it’s impressive, I mean it is part of the game no matter how much fans might dislike it.

This stops during the post season. I think this is a legit reason why his game drops in the playoffs.

[–] Watch_Basketball@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

I think the orbital bone fractures (x2) and torn meniscus' while being double/triple teamed with clown coaches plays a part as well

Embiid is about to get a third scoring title and this sub is having another meltdown lmao, jokic got like one week of this and his fans acted like it was torture

[–] alexaustinv@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Joel Embiid is also #7 in FG's this season. He's a bucket and tough guard. Get over it.

[–] jejsjhabdjf@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Least valid MVP since Westbrook and maybe the worst of all time.

[–] NetworkVegetable7075@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

10.3 per game Wtf ?!?

[–] the_weakestavenger@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

When I see stats like this my brain gets split between “he’s so good people can’t defend him without fouling” and “he gets a favorable whistle and it inflates how good he looks.”

I can’t wait for a future where AI is good enough to be taught what a foul is and isn’t so it can do an analysis of game film to tell us who has the highest over call and under call rates in the NBA. It’s too much work for me to actually watch the games and form an opinion, after all.

[–] jawntothefuture@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

teams should try guarding him and not fouling...I am genuinely curious what it would look like

[–] shazam482@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Check his stats in the playoffs

[–] PooperJackson@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Least ethical scorer

[–] ChickenLiverNuts@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

giannis had 18 FTs last night in a game Dame also had 15

not a single peep

Embiid hasnt even played yet today and people are still crying. You hate him because he makes them. If Giannis shot 88% from the line youd probably cry too
