Is there just so much added pressure on teams to improve fans’/gamblers’ fantasy teams and sports betting outcomes? One related stat: “According to ESPN Stats & Information research, there have only been six NFL head coaches since the merger who didn't finish their first season with their team, with three of those instances having come in the past three seasons: Urban Meyer (Jaguars), Nathaniel Hackett (Broncos) and Reich.“ https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38991151/carolina-panthers-fire-head-coach-frank-reich

This is phenomenally stupid.

It's more due to the fact that all the owners have significantly more money nowadays and are more willing to be aggressive with building a winning team. It has nothing to do with sports gambling besides that industry pumping more money into the sport to allow it.

Consider this, it’s been 4 years since the Patriots won a Super Bowl and Frank Reich was fired mid season in two of those years. Coincidence?

[–] chillinwithmoes@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah, probably

The article you linked says nothing about gambling. It’s just about Reich being fired.

I’m not sure what connection you’re trying to draw between the two. Why would owners be motivated by gamblers?

as much as i hate all the gambling ads, commercials, and discussions about dumb parlay bets by announcers during the games... your conclusion that there's a relationship between gambling and coaches getting fired is unfounded

Nah, seems like it’s been a thing for a long time. Here’re all the HCs fired mid season since 2000:

There should be officials fired mid season, their bad work costs people millions. That Broncos - Browns game was ridiculous.

How do they correlate?
