Harden has looked pretty cooked and especially looked atrocious today. Now he could still be ramping up as he claims and getting back to where he was earlier. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle but for the sake of conversation let’s assume this is actually who Harden is now and he isn’t good enough anymore to improve his legacy.

By that basically no more all nba’s, no more all stars, definitely no MVPs and no deep playoff runs (e.g. nothing past the 2nd round but Harden isn’t really known for deep playoff runs anyways so we don’t have to hold our breath for that)

In this hypothetical Harden is cooked and everything that he’s accomplished is in the past, where is he in your all time rankings?

In the 30-40 range

People have Pedo Malone in their top 20 so I don't see why Harden can't be around there. He's basically the Malone of our generational. Legendary regular season player who came up short in the playoffs and would have a ring if it weren't for the GOAT team peaking at the same time as him.

Personally I have Harden top 25 all time

His 2018 playoffs pushing kd to 7 with no help the last couple of games is better than lots of guys title runs such as the 2020 2021 and 2022 title runs just based on how one sided the fight was yet rockets still went 7. He should be top 25 to 35 well above guys like pippen. Top 5 to 10 offensive player ever.

Bro forgot to take his fat suit off before he joined the clippers

[–] Elite_Alice@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He’s the 4th best sg ever

[–] SimilarPeak439@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well it's tough

MJ goat (to me by far) but for some maybe 2 or 3

Kobe top 5-13 depending what you value

West top 16-25 depending what you value

Wade top 21-35 depending what you value

Harden has to be below all them right

Than Drexler has a much better playoff resume as the best guy on a team. I have Harden over Clyde but he's disrespected in these conversations.

But most would have Clyde 30-40 I'm guessing

So somewhere between 22&39 as long as Wade is higher and Drexler not much lower.

I'll say around 31 is a good number

Around 30 ish probably. Same tier as the best players without a ring.

[–] philokratos1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I've never seen him this disengaged before. His game tonight was an embarrassment.
It's going to take a while before the bad taste of this phase of his career washes away.

That said, I'd argue that he's being underrated right now because people have forgotten how dominant that Warriors dynasty was and how no one else in the league was even close to toppling it aside from James Harden

Pretty low tbh. Washed up right now, ringless, good for a couple crossover highlights and 30 point game on and off, which translated into a bunch of 1st and 2nd round exits

Second after Lebron

[–] Educational-Pin-1019@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Unchanged. Solid top 30.

What do you do with your rankings when you’re done with them

[–] likpoper@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Top 30 ever

[–] Full-Veterinarian-94@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Like Melo and AI

for all his foibles he's a legendary offensive maestro who left a long lasting impact on the game, with actual numbers to back it up. every kid and their mom can hit step-back 3s now. if he had a bit more playoff success he'd be an upper echelon legend imo

[–] kpeds45@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I imagine some of you nerds pouring over spreadsheets moving guys up and down your personal rankings on a daily basis. "Hmmm, 5-14 yesterday, over a 12 year career that's -0.025 legacy points. Plus he tweeted something dumb, -1 legacy point for that...hmmm, that moves him behind AI I think..."

i don’t think i’d be ranking harden bc i truly don’t give a shit beyond like top 10, but i will say i’ll always remember harden as the most maddeningly talented player offensively speaking. like—at his peak, he was ruthlessly good. he was a system by himself. you literally could not defend him 1 on 1 for a stretch of his career.

[–] Bush_orchestrated911@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If he retires without a ring, his overall career is going to just look like a bunch of empty stats and what ifs. It's hard for me to give him the full credit he probably deserves because of him being a flopping little bitch for so much of his career, makes it really hard to respect his genuine talent. He did run into the Warriors dynasty so I guess I'd put him in with the upper echelon of awesome players that couldn't make it over the Jordan hump in the 90s. He's over Stockton and KM13 for sure.

[–] ShutUpCatPeopleRule@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

outside the top50/not relevant to "all time rankings"

[–] MekBoomdaw@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He ain’t listed…

[–] SpursExpanse@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Some of the comments on this thread are ridiculous. These type of threads really bring out the underbelly of the sub.

[–] ComfortableSell6046@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So are we supposed to forget that the nba ignored him traveling in an attempt to sell tickets during his best years? Then when they realized most fans were sick of seeing it and went back to calling traveling on him his stats disappeared?

[–] Dubonthetrac@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It'd hard because statically he's a top 4 sg with mj,kobe, dwade, but entertainment wise i would rather watch Aaron afflolo. I personally have jerry west and AI above him As a 2 guard

[–] P_O_L_L_Y@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

My personal list? He’s top 10. I love Harden.

[–] tdmoney@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Honestly, he’s the GOAT who never was. He has all the tools. Doesn’t have the killer instinct, doesn’t have the work ethic. Doesn’t play defense.

Harden, especially in his prime could get almost any shot he wanted. The refs let him get by with actual murder in terms of footwork and dribbling.
