Only democracy in the Middle East btw

There's no mention of the minister in the article you linked?

Ben-Gvir is a right-wing populist dipshit who's unfortunately part of the government, but nothing will ever come of it. If anything, I blame the club for not telling the foreign players in advance what the banner is about. "Bring them home now" is as uncontroversial as a statement in this time can be, I doubt anybody would have objected to endorsing it.

Or you could just be allowed to play the sport and do your job without being sucked into a fascist propaganda machine used to try and justify genocide.

[–] YouAreAConductor@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Demanding the release of civilian hostages is fascist propaganda now? Come on. The release of hostages is as unpolitical as it gets. Be better.

[–] retr0grade77@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Supporting the release of hostages = fascist propaganda? If people like you weren’t so hysterical in your accusations you’d be taken more seriously.

[–] qqruu@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

"Bring innocent children back home" = fascist propaganda? You guys have lost the plot.

Question for Israelis : is it really possible or is he just speaking blindly like many politicians?

[–] benief@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Probably technically possible but he’s just an idiot spouting bullshit

[–] retr0grade77@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Ben-Gvir is an idiotic fanatic given a voice by the power hungry narcissist Bibi

[–] qqruu@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

No chance. Maybe if Israel doesn't correct course and stop electing absolute idiots who try to push extreme nationalism and remove power from the courts, it could in the future.

Revoking citizenship is a huge no no for every state on the planet, can of worms you don’t wanna open

[–] ChiliConCairney@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

Genuine question - why would they not support that banner? You can be rightfully critical of what Israel is doing in Gaza and still believe that innocent hostages deserve to return safely

Because any comment that isn’t “Israel bad” is immediately downvoted

[–] Turnernator06@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

In fairness, Israel is bad. Very bad.

I was curious too and clicked & translated the article, which is different from the one OP posted in the comments

... the foreign players who did not hold a sign for the return of the abductees, and the answer they received from everyone was the same: "We didn't know what was written on it."

[–] Ok_Steak_youwin@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Ben Gvir, demanding now a Swedish, EU and NATO destined country who have been in full support of Israel's genocide obey even harder.

Must be difficult for Ben, when you're complicit on the Hamas attacks and you're at part fault for the slaughter of Israelis or Jewish people from other nations as well as other innocents just to keep your job, install authoritarian power on Israel, to allow your genocide fetish to flourish then his conscience must be eating away at itself despite what he tries to tell himself.

When you're a criminal against your own people and an international war criminal then clearly acts like this to save face will come with it. I'll look forward to his day in the Hague should it ever come.

Politician talks bullshit will always be a headline

[–] retr0grade77@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago (1 children)

If Gvir wasn’t so hellbent on protecting his voters in the West Bank maybe they’d have been more protection for the innocent Kibbutzim on Oct 7th.

These horrible bastards are on borrowed time and they know it.

[–] Pretend_Stomach7183@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I still believe one of the things the government was concerned about was how right wing the areas being hit were. Be'eri was massacred for hours with little attempts to dislodge the damn "freedom fighters."

I take the same position on this as rainbow armbands and pre-match anti-racism statements: Nobody should be forced to show their support for any cause and any lack of endorsement should not be taken as support for any opposing position. This is not only the fundamental right of any individual in a free society but also coercing support from all players only devalues the genuine endorsement from those who do support the cause.

[–] The_prawn_king@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

I agree that it is people’s right to not support causes if they don’t want to but that doesn’t mean they should not face criticism for their standpoints. When you don’t support the oppressed you are supporting the oppressor.

[–] htmwc@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Ben Gvir should be sent into the fuckin sun

[–] Rabgin@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

Thank you, Hero.

Shoutout to Arab and Islamic loving and genuinely nice guy Ben Gvir for the kinds words he had to Sundgren.

Zero threat at all :)

Petty as fuck because he failed the one job he has and the blood of all fallen October 7 ultimately fall on him

[–] fall3nmartyr@alien.top 1 points 9 months ago

And the Israeli government wonders how they lost the PR battle? Really?
