The Kyrie Luka pairing is fun to watch(and amazing on 2k) but let’s be honest they are never winning shit lol
Except my heart
This sub is overrated
I think they made that post after the one I made, but there was actually some good insight from it.
Luka is elite but he doesn't fit the current team that well/ the team doesn't fit his needs that well, doesn't mean he isn't a top 5/10 player, just means he needs specific pieces around him, like with Harden.
I think he might be tbh. Dudes incredibly skilled and talented, and one of the best one-on-one players I've ever seen. But he doesn't really do any of the little things and never runs back on defense. The Mavs being better with him off the court basically every year seems to be a bad sign for me
Both Harden (in his prime) and Luka are winning players. Don't use plus/minus, it's a shit stat that doesn't have enough context to be the sole indicator.
Harden had elite rapm and advanced plus minus stats. Luka doesn’t.
Harden in his prime had great impact though. Even prime Russ did.
Not big into advanced stats but I’ve always been confused why they don’t like Luka. Does anybody have an explanation?
Very few people that follow the NBA actually watch full games.
For most fans it's highlights on YouTube, X, or tiktok.
Luka makes amazing highlights, so for the casual fan he is a moving bucket.
The stat obsessed crowd and the fantasy league experts might disagree, but highlights plus the eyeball test = he is amazing for 90% of the fans.
Luka is going to be painted with same brush as Harden in 5 years.
Nahh, he averages 30/9/7 in the playoffs lol.
Case closed, wrap it up everybody.
Yes, fire that bum.
"I want to feel right about every single pointless basketball opinion I have so here is skewed data that confirms why I am right and 99.9% of people that watch basketball are wrong"
How is it skewed?
Again, I’m not saying I agree. But I would like to be informed
Imagine for 1 season if every dominant iso star only played garbagetime and against benchplayers.
Overrated =/= Bad. Yes he is great but he is also overrated. Some people say he is the best player in the league, he doesn't impact the game as Giannis or Jokic. They only look at box scores
I'm sorry advanced stats I didn't know your game
OPs +/- is 0, hes better than Luka!
Every. Single. Year.
Take Luka off the Mavs and see how they do
Can you show us some defense stats? That would be interesting
Saw a guy arguing Luka was “not even close” to a top 5 regular season player citing only +/- lol.
Fuck off
Yep, Luka is not a Finals championship player.
The only negative to Luka's game is the constant whining for calls that makes him miss going back on defense because complaining in that moment is more important to him. Other than that, he's a top 3 pick in an all NBA redraft right now because dude is just that good
This year he's toned it down quite a bit. And he's energy on defense has improved too. He's obviously not quite there yet but he's done a good job so far.
You can’t tell the story of a basketball game with numbers. Analytics are incredibly overrated in sports today.
Wasn't pretty much this exact same post made yesterday?
this post gets made every year about how the team is better when he's not on the floor
Is OP a bum? 🤓☝️Erm, data suggests he is 🤓☝️
To make a legitimate argument like this people usually wait for at least a 1000 minute sample size in a season
Luka a ho. And he is a fat loser. Of course he's overrated.
kings fan still trying to cope with skipping on Luka
Luka is a great player, also Kyrie.
Dallas has neither now nor last season a good team at all, despite it Luka bring his team in another level till playoffs.
If Luka plays together with Kyrie actively in a game, normally he has less statistics as he play without him.
Last season had Luka Doncic (before the playoffs) one of the best statistics in the NBA (maybe the best) and so we can't talk about an overrated player (he was the goat), especially he broke at one night a historical record.
Btw: Actually we can't expect good statistics by Luka, because of a left thumb injury.
u/irelli thoughts on these sort of stats? Just have a hard time thinking he’s an actual net negative
How many guys players have you watched hit four straight 3’s in the playoffs? Off-dribble as well?
I don't think you watch ball lol. Luka is good.
