Pistons had 4 years of tanking and still bottom of the East. They are 2-15 this season on a 14 game losing run and haven't even reach double wins in 2023 with one month left in the calender. They might not even win 10 games this season. What can the Pistons do to get out of this rut?

They didn’t get lucky the year they had #1 overall and they’re terribly run. Sometimes you gotta be lucky

4 years of tanking doesn’t mean anything when you don’t get top picks or miss on your draft picks anyways

They start 4 non shooters in the year of our lord 2023.

If in year 4 of a rebuild you’re the worst team in the league the rebuild failed

Pistons stuck in 2010.

Other teams are getting better and better. On every level, coaching, salesteam, scouts and facilities. I think we are going to see tankteams with below 20-15 wins in a couple of years.

Tanking is just losing on purpose. You dont get good by being the underdog everygame

No vets and no shooters around Cade.

some teams are tanking for decades. Tanking becomes their true identity and they can't stop even if they want

  • Didn't keep Bey
  • Didn't draft Whitmore
  • Didn't bring McGee home
  • Didn't re-sign Diallo and McGruder for that roster depth re injury, and add vets like Nunn and Barton.
  • Didn't choose coach Fleming

Easier question is what isn’t wrong with the Pistons. It’s really sad what the owner and front office have reduced this one proud franchise to.

I can't believe I have to live in a world where the Pacers are better than us and we can't get them to fight a fan to suck smfh

They’re all centers and ball handlers with nothing worthwhile in between

Imo, they didn’t draft the right players to build around Cade.

Now they are at a point where they are questioning if they SHOULD build around Cade. But did they ever give it a fair shot?

Not sure what the answer is. I will say that I thought Ausar was their best player last night, before he was inexplicably benched.

[–] durezzz@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

exactly this is what can happen when you just draft the best player available every year instead of drafting for fit

[–] d7h7n@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

To be fair they drafted Hayes before Cade plus Duren and Ausar are not bad picks. If they needed shooting they could've traded down and grabbed Hawkins or Dick though I remember pre-draft everyone was super high on Hendricks being a good stretch 4. Or they should've shipped Hayes after they drafted Cade.

When Beef Stew is your best floor spacer you’re not going to win very many games.
