Recently I made a post about how you can watch a Grizzlies game for $2. The biggest pushback I had was "Grizzlies players were injured so who would want to go watch?"

Well, the Pistons and Wizards are currently battling it out for the title of worst NBA team in NBA history, and not only that have been 2 of the most hopeless teams for the past decade or so. As it turns out, the cheapest ticket to their thrilling rematch in January is $17, or an 850% increase over the cheapest Grizzlies ticket sold.

It's also over 3x cheaper to watch Luka Doncic play in Memphis than it is to watch Jordan Poole vs Killian Hayes

Say it with me folks: Grizzlies live in Vancouver, not Memphis

Pathetic basketball market

Why are you mad that Grizzlies fans get to afford incredibly reasonable prices for their team.

[–] Neuroxex@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Grizzlies being denied the true joy of being priced out of getting to enjoy their team, it's tough.

Look at his username and flair he is desperately campaigning to tell Memphis to suck a dick and bring the Grizzlies back to Vancouver

[–] AllOutRaptors@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Vancouver got taken away due to fan support, yet the place they moved them to is having the same problems and no ones talking about it.

I just really miss NBA basketball being within reach. Same reason Seattle fans always trash on OKC

Cheap tickets are a good thing. Good for the people of Memphis.

[–] syllabic@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

17 dollars is a cheap ticket too

My Raptors are a 6 hour flight away, so it's not exactly accessible

[–] sbstooge@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

My Grizzlies are a 21 hour flight away, you live with it. Stop campaigning to take "back" a team from Memphis that has already claimed basically 3 quarters of its existence there. All of the Grizzlies success has come after Vancouver.

Regardless of any behind the scenes stuff that led to the relocation, you of all people should be campaigning for a new one and not want to inflict that same feeling of losing your team to anyone else. Especially when it's for something that happened over 20 years ago at this point and I haven't heard anyone vocal enough about a Vancouver expansion team as much as a "let's revenge fuck the grizzlies" team.

As a wizards fan it’s kinda crazy how tickets are still relatively expensive despite the team being utter dogshit.

[–] TripleDoubleWatch@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Agreed. Wanted to take my nephew (and sister) to a game. He likes the Warriors so I checked ticket prices, and even shitty seats were like $600 a ticket.

I get that it's the warriors, but still.. that just seems ridiculous. Haven't been to an NBA game in years. Would usually take the train into DC, stay the night right outside the city and take a train back the next day. Price and uncertainty of players being available have kept me away. It just doesn't feel worth it at all.

Well duh. Who isn't champing at the bit, wallet at the ready, to see two Eastern Conference titans in a nationally highly-anticipated rematch?!? Buy your Pistons-Wiz ticket today!

[–] _checkpickerupper@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

You can’t have the grizzlies back in 🇨🇦 but you can have the next best thing. john konchar, Roddy, and Ziaire for Scottie Barnes.

[–] Cudi_buddy@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

$2 is crazy. 10 years ago at Arco Arena I am not sure I could have found a $2 ticket

[–] Overall_Nuggie_876@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

850% more expensive

Why is a Pistons game much more expensive than a Memphis game? The hell is happening there???

you can watch a Grizzlies game for $2…the cheapest ticket to [Detroit v. Washington’s] thrilling rematch in January is $17

Oh. 😕😕😶

[–] nevermindthatyoudope@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

As someone who can be at FedEx Forum in a half hour (depending on today's level of stupidity on 55/240), where are you getting these $2 tickets?

[–] AllOutRaptors@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Here's my post where I showed the $2 tickets. Not sure if the links still work tho

[–] nevermindthatyoudope@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Damn, that beats the $6 tix I saw earlier in the year. I suppose part of it is the jazz. I didn't check the 200 level (the cheap tickets here) but I can tell you the tickets to the C's game a a week ago were prohibitively expensive.

[–] Mechaultima@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Exactly I’ve never actually seen tickets available under 10$

[–] Snoo-1474@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Do they even have anything in McDonald’s that’s less than $2

[–] Snoo-1474@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

while the rest of the country is facing inflation, Memphis is experiencing deflation. I’m moving to Memphis y’all

[–] ugurtekbas@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

That's a great catch man 👏🏼
Just checked the Dallas game on the 11th of December, I can get a pretty decent seat for $200. And it only increased few days ago, average price was around $160 before. (check out the image). https://imgur.com/a/9kxQV23
Great price to see Luka Magic and Irving on the floor.
