The same shit for my whole fucking life. It's amazing.

I wonder if classification has made the mass shooting numbers look different. In the 90s I remember everyone just blamed gangs. Shoot out in a parking lot, "they were probably in a gang.". But soon as you list gun violence under gang related, it no longer falls under mass shooting according to the FBI and such. So even if 6 people get killed, that incident wouldn't show up.

Today I rarely see people lumping acts into something like that.

My bad...I ate the last goddamn neuron in this assholes head

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 14 points 3 weeks ago

My condolences on your imminent starvation

[–] PattyMcB@lemmy.world 20 points 3 weeks ago

This has already been disproven ...repeatedly

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 16 points 3 weeks ago

I blame the Bible for mass shootings, and I guarantee that there is more evidence to support my claim than his.

Ban the bible!

[–] inclementimmigrant@lemmy.world 15 points 3 weeks ago

Yes, it's mostly a US-only issue but you know that other countries, Australia, looking at you, that love to be ban happy with any flimsy justification.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 15 points 3 weeks ago

Damn boomer... We still doing this old trick in 2025.

[–] SharkAttak@kbin.melroy.org 13 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

And what we blame for violent insurrections against the State? Just curious.

This explains all the visas they're denying and the people they're deporting. There was a typo... And everyone knows Christie Noem has trouble with the English language on a good day.

I remember being in middleschool when this was disproven

His father was killed because of the Hula Hoop.

So along that line of logic, does all media with graphic violence cause murderous tendencies?

[–] Sirdubdee@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I wonder if we can actually use this to our advantage. Microsoft paid $60billion for one of the most popular violent games, CoD. Can we force them to choose between political pressure or money?

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 5 points 3 weeks ago

Authoritarian demands always corrupt: nah.

[–] swordgeek@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 weeks ago

We need to stop reporting what these brainless twats are saying. Just freeze 'em out.

[–] Blackmist@feddit.uk 5 points 3 weeks ago

Well at least they finally trained someone to be a good shot

[–] notfromhere@lemmy.one 4 points 3 weeks ago

So explain why violent crimes plummeted when PlayStation and GTA came out. It’s lead poisoning from leaded gasoline. We cut that out and it’s been trending down. If violent video games have any impact, it’s likely to reduce physical violence instead of increase it.

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

And here I'm blaming bloated prolapsed anuses that talk through worm ventriloquism.

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Classic. This is why I shit up every school I ever went to.

/S

This has been disproven so many times. People with mental health issues shoot up schools.

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

NO, people with mental health issues are less likely to commit violence than the general population. Violence is fully within the normal human gamut.

[–] cyberpunk007@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Oh I see, so you would say someone who wanted to kill people can have good mental health? Interesting point of view.

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

How quickly you retreat to sophistry. I said what I meant. Everyone can see it right there, you cannot twist it, no matter how you try. The vast majority of murders and other violent acts are committed by people who are not dealing with any mental disabilities. Contrarily, people with mental disabilities commit violence far less than the general population. When you said, "People with mental health issues shoot up schools," you might have merely been speaking imprecisely, but then you doubled down on it. I suggest you do some research on the subject before you stigmatize mental illness again.

[–] Nindelofocho@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Arent Mental disabilities and mental health issues different? When I hear someone talk about a mental disability I think of something like a learning disability, or autism. I dont believe they have the propensity to be violent anymore or less than the average. Mental health, however, I think are more states of the mind and can happen to anyone with or without mental disability. Mental health episodes cause one to think and believe in extraordinary circumstances which causes people to do extraordinary things. Im fairly certain thats what the op was talking about.

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca -2 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

So, normal people having a bad day. We must aggressively treat people having bad days, even if they don't consent to treatment, because normies are a violent threat to public safety.

Less ironically, I don't agree with your distinction. When people say that "mental issues" cause people to shoot up a school, I think they are talking about serious psychological disorders, not a transient state of mind that might happen to anyone. They are unconsciously looking for an "other" to blame.

[–] Nindelofocho@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

No its a little more than a bad day. Im getting the idea that you are taking what people say in bad faith so im not going to say anymore. I recommend getting help.

[–] Marshezezz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 3 weeks ago

He’s says a lot of things but they’re all bullshit

[–] Bebopalouie@lemmy.ca 3 points 3 weeks ago

Just read an article today saying video games do not make peops violent. Am I the only boomer that likes to play violent and not violent vidya games?

Sheesh.

Switzerland has a comparable number of guns as we do

How is 120 per capita (USA) comparable to 26?

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 4 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

120 guns per American (ie per capita) vs 26 guns per Swiss??

According to TFA:

Roughly 3-in-10 citizens in both Switzerland and the United States own guns

So the number of owners is similar, which is probably more meaningful than the absolute number of guns.

[–] Scolding7300@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Not unless these guns are stolen which they often do. Could also signify a difference in culture or how guns are treated. If I have 10 guns, I might as well have one on me, one in my car, and one for my dog.

But I agree it might be comparable

[–] Cocopanda@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Hilarious. The GoobaGators are silencing anyone posting this over in KIA. I thought they hated this stuff?

r/KotakuInAction the Nazi hide out.

Funny thing about their Nazi problem. Is they deny people are Nazi’s after they post 1488 bullshit. It’s pathetic.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 1 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (2 children)

What happened to ol jack. I'm really hoping he got ran over by a arcade cabinet? Just looked and he is still kicking. He is also still hating that no one cares what he thinks.

In 2024, years after his disbarment from practicing law, as well as his notoriety with gamers fading with the passage of time, Jack Thompson had appeared to have denounced his disdain for video games. On an interview with the My Perfect Console podcast, Thompson praised video games for helping out disabled people with their interactive nature.[50][51][52][53][54][55]

WELL AINT THAT SOME SHIT

We all knew it was performative.

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 weeks ago

Jack Thompson? Haven't heard much since he got disbarred! What was the blog I used to always read about him on... Can't recall! Wasn't he actually beefing with them?

[–] lustyargonian@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Go ahead, ban it, see what that leads to then.

It'll be interesting to see them shut a 66B USA industry.

I kind of have the feeling GTA 6 is going to be neutered and Rockstar is a huge target for this admin. Fingers crossed tho
