Felt like there were a lot hyped rookie offensive lineman and even though the position can be hard to grow into from college to pros I didn’t know if one of these rookies has stood out at all?

Dawand Jones.

Everyone is a distant second in the pass blocking game.

Surprised Bergeron hasn’t been mentioned yet.

Broddy “The Body” Jones

Biased answer. Darnell Wright is the real deal.

More objective answer. Dawand Jones is probably going to be a great player that everyone will regret passing on.

i wanted him in the 5th

Jebus Crypes

Darnell Wright has been extremely promising, albeit making the kind of rookie mistakes you're hoping he cleans up in a year or two, including committing way too many penalties

[–] TSwan98@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Saw a stat that Anton has the most snaps of any right tackle in one on one snaps. No help. Look who he’s gone against. Other than jones who whooped him he’s held up and being alone that much. He’s damn good

[–] Elimia987@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

All things considered, Paris Johnson has played well.

[–] MetaKoopa99@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Not sure he’s been THE best but the difference in our run game has been night and day since Broderick Jones started getting starting reps

[–] Smodgins@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He's been playing G for us rather than T but Skoronski has been great. Comfortably the best lineman on the team, though that isn't saying much I suppose.

Broderick Jones has played starter-level snaps (85% or more) in 6 games. In those games, the Steelers have averaged 149.5 rushing yards per game. In 5 of 6 games the Steelers have rushed for more than 100 yards, including a high of 205.

He's played bench-level snaps (10% or less) in 5 games. In those games, the Steelers have averaged 71.4 rushing yards per game. In just 1 of 5 did they rush for more than 100, a paltry 105.

In the last 3 games the Steelers lead the NFL, averaging 176.7 rushing yards per game.

Barring injury, Chukwuma Okorafor will be sitting on the bench of rest of the season.

Anton Harrison has played against a murders row of pass rushers and has held up decently

[–] bleedblue89@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think Anton has been amazing against some of the best. He got wrecked a handful of times but he’s been a solid RT

[–] into_the_wenisverse@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Probably helps having who he has to practice against...

We got the 2/1 combo deal

[–] Bandoot@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Dawand Jones is a 4th rounder who has played 371 pass blocking snaps and has given up only 19 pressures and only 3 of those pressures have ended in sacks

[–] Desarticulation@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Pretty crazy that he's seemingly playing better than his college LT Paris Johnson who was a top 7 pick.

[–] Idiotology101@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Bill, get off of Reddit. I know scouting hasn’t worked for you, but you won’t find help here.

I like that kid in Cleveland- he looked pretty good against TJ Watt.

Then, of course, I’m kinda partial to Broderick who has done very well even though he’s playing a different side than he did at Georgia.

I'd have to take Dawand Jones over him pretty easy

[–] Either-Hovercraft-51@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

What I'm seeing is you need to clone him and then have him play all 5 spots and 2 TE spots. Hell, line him up in the slot too. 8 Broderick Jones. 1 WR out wide for the random deep pass and a QB and RB. If one Broderick Jones is worth an average of 78 rushing yards per game, then 8 will be 624.8 rushing yards per game. And that average is based on throwing the ball probably over half the time

[–] HOFerKennyPickett@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I just want to see Broderick on the left side, dude is a Dawg (Georgia bull and otherwise)

[–] CoachMcGuirk_1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Brojo. Big, beefy and he’s got good jokes.

[–] bit99@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I'll vote for Darnell Wright but Paris Johnson has also been great as a day 1 starting RT for a garbage offense. He might even have the upside to move to LT

[–] Bandoot@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

they moved Paris to RT? He was a LT in college

[–] Mario2346@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

What are you on about PJJ has been awful the last few weeks, he was decent the first 4 weeks of the season but went downhill since , he was losing matchups in garbage time to the rams 3rd stringers . He’s rated in the bottom 10 by PFF for right tackles . I agree with him moving to the left side but saying he’s the best of the class as of now is just wrong .

[–] 4thTimesAnAlt@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Anton Harrison has quietly put together a fantastic rookie campaign. He's had a couple snaps per game where he gets smoked, but he always bounces back. And this has been against Watt, Chris Jones, Bosa, etc. Dude's gonna be a damn good RT for many years to come

[–] soxfan10@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Darnell Wright has been pretty good so far. So has Dawand Jones. Honestly, this rookie class of OT has been pretty good.

[–] fatcootermeat@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If the browns stopped running the ball, Dawand Jones might be an All-Pro. Legitimate wall in pass pro but it looks kinda rough watching him try to move up field run blocking.

[–] NeverBendsKnees@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

JMS on the Giants has been improving. Which is good

[–] Standard_Employee751@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Man I really wish we just took Carter and Dawand

[–] WorthWafer1365@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m not sure, I haven’t been watching the rookie tackle film

[–] Charles_Lidderindo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

From what I can tell they've all been mostly pretty good, which I found surprising.

[–] Organic-Coat5042@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Dawand Jones. He was my OT2 coming out of Ohio State, even better than Paris Johnson in my opinion. HUGE steal for the Browns, and it’s payed off so far.
