if Jokic is like Charizard this dude is like a Charmander right now...if he keeps it up he has a shot of getting there.

This guy will be a top 5 player on earth before 2026

Best season so far by any member of the '21 draft class

[–] Aggressive_Ad5115@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

OKC got 2 firsts for him did they use them yet?

For sure, but great season from Franz as well

Edit: And scottie

[–] RTLT512@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Scottie Barnes has also been incredible this year

[–] MiyagiBro@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He's been good but I feel like there's been a lot less Sengun chatter relatively, given that he has better counting stats, slash line/efficiency, plus minus stats etc.

Scottie's been great, but Sengun a bit better IMO.

Sengun is definitely starting to pull away. Beginning of the season raptors were running everything through Scottie. Issue is Siakam looked like shit playing so much off ball. Obviously we need Siakam trade value to be good so we changed like 8 games ago and started running everything through Siakam again. His usage has skyrocketed. Now Scottie is playing way more off ball and not being utilized right. It’s a tragedy what Masai has done to this roster, one can only imagine Scottie with shooters. Siakam shooting 20% from 3 on high volume btw.

Even in the tough Ls like tonight, I find comfort knowing Sengun is on my team. The consistency is calming. The fact he was 11/14 from the foul line tonight is great to see.

[–] BigTonyEnergy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Made all of this 6 clutch free throws. That's big.

[–] HasortmanliHoca@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He is not a bad ft shooter might be a conditioning issue

[–] Octavian2120@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Someone suggested it could have something to do with increased muscle mass and therefore losing a bit of touch temporarily 🤔

[–] _felagund@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

he was 11/14 from the foul line

which means he is working on his weak areas. great mindset.

This year was always going to be a success as long as one of our young guys broke out as a legit franchise centerpiece, and we have that with Sengun. Feels real good

[–] _s0lace_@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Jabari’s progression has been promising as well. Now we just need JG to get it together

[–] LinuxDootTP@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

the thing i really liked about him tonight is when they were down in the closing moments of the 4th, they gave it to him to go get a bucket and he went straight to work, nothing fancy or cute, just a quick move or two to get lively off his feet for an easy bucket. straight professional buckets. inject that shit straight into my veinnnnsssss

[–] _felagund@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

indeed. even that dream fake at the end was purely pro and not for amusement.

[–] bikedork5000@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

If you redraft 2021 right now, does he go......first?

[–] CJ4ROCKET@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Him or Barnes, yeah. I'm taking Sengun tho ... he just scores so easily.

Making a strong bid for an all star slot in the West

I’m a very big Sengun fan but how realistic is this? Jokic AD are basically locks then there’s Sabonis and KAT.

[–] CJ4ROCKET@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Selections are divided between frontcourt and guards. There are 3 starting frontcourt players and 2 starting guards, and these are selected based on a combination of fan votes, player votes, and media votes. There are 7 total reserves, and while there is no limitation on number of frontcourt or guard reserves, reserve selections are based on coach votes, and each coach votes for 2 guards, 3 frontcourt players, and 2 wildcards.

With that in mind, it is likely that 6-7 all star players will be frontcourt and 5-6 all star players will be guards. It could vary from that, but based on the vote allotment, that seems likely. In last year's ASG, for example, the East breakdown of selected players (ignoring injury replacements) was 6 guards and 6 frontcourt players, and the West breakdown of selected players (ignoring injury replacements) was 5 guards and 7 frontcourt players.

With that said, you have to consider not just Cs but all frontcourt players (SFs/PFs). I'd currently have Jokic, AD, Sabonis, KAT, Lebron, Zion, PG, KD, and Sengun as the top 9 contenders for a likely 7 spots. He's probably 8 or 9 right now in that group, so just on the outside looking in. Could definitely make it via injury replacement.

Also, maybe Markkanen gets a look if Utah improves, and maybe BI and Kawhi get a look if they can improve their scoring efficiency.

[–] Shxcking@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I rarely vote myself so I’m always forgetting it’s just front/backcourt. So very good point on all of that.

A few points, not really arguments just observations after you enlightened me a bit. I don’t agree with it, but it sounds like a lot of people might be voting PG in as a guard which opens up some votes for others so it can only help his case.

I think Kawhi gets votes off legacy, especially since he’s seemingly healthy this year. Lauri and BI need to play better but have the ability to do so like you said (I personally have Lauri > Alperen=BI).

And even though they’re not doing super well, always have to be wary of GSW/LAL frontcourt votes.

But all that aside, you’ve convinced me that Alperen has a realistic shot of getting in (imo probably as a replacement rather than an actual vote in but he wouldn’t be far off if that)

[–] CJ4ROCKET@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Thing is, the hybrid voting (fans, media, players) is ONLY for starters iirc. The reserves are selected exclusively via coach votes. Point taken on Kawhi but I don't think he's beating out some of the other guys for the 3 frontcourt starting spots. If his only path is thru coach votes, I'm not sure they'll value legacy as much as fans would, for example.

I'm a huge Lauri fan and wanted him on an All-NBA team last season, so I'm sorta there with you, but I think he needs Utah to improve in the standings to have a shot to make it (would also be via coach vote on reserves).

Agreed Sengun's likely path is via injury replacement.

Sengun is what the spurs want Sochan to be

[–] RTLT512@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
