v4. More efficient. RAM will be fine. I believe the ‘stock’ speed for DDR4 is 2133.

Yep, was surprised to see that 2x2680v4 is lower power consumption than the previous 2x2630v3 that I had, despite nearly doubled the cores.
Whats your opinion on E5-2682 v4. I can get those for $21.6USD. So kind of like $5 more
I know you didn’t mention vSphere, but it may possibly be of relevance at some point that ESXi 8 does not support the v3 CPUs.
V4 you have the generation improvement. Just pick how many cores you need.
