That looks really great. I need something like that.

Elevation labs. They are specifically for headphones.

Was debating on getting those Orange AKG's. I heard the soundstage is very wide, would you agree? Also, I would like to enjoy movies with these for the most part and need sub bass.. Do you believe this would fit my MO?

[–] PuzzleheadedSector2@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

They are my favorites. Definitely a wide soundstage. As for sub bass, I can't clearly remember. I was very happy with them the last time I used them. Not ultra bassy, but I wasn't really longing for more.

how do you feel about the 700s, especially compared to the 770s?

[–] MZeitgeist@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I can answer as well because I spent a fair bit of time with both, and I kept the 700s. In short, I thought the 700s were much more effective when gaming, and I need a good all-around headphone.

I preferred the comfort of the 700s to the 770s, the pads are thick and very plush, and they have more clamp force which results in more isolation. There is more space for your ear inside the cups of the 700 as well, my ears didn’t touch the inside of the cup like they did sometimes with other classic beyer headphones.

I loved the 770s for music, the bass extension is still so unique and they have a fun tuning. When gaming however, they sounded very muddy to me. In shooters, footsteps and voice lines seemed perpetually distant and explosions and gunshots dominated. When I would EQ, they fell on a spectrum of hollow to muddy. I found it hard to enjoy my games.

The 700s addressed everything. The bass extension is still excellent, and they deal with the video game soundscape much better. I’ve found them easy to EQ, but they really didn’t need much in the end. They feel less V-shaped out of the box, but I do have an EQ preset with bass and treble boosts and I throw that on when I’m in the mood.

The word that comes to mind when I think of the 700s is that they feel more modern. The 770s are a classic and they’re bulletproof, but I found the 700s to be better all around.

Wondering the same

Came here to ask this. Looking to buy a closed back, curious to hear your answer!

[–] Most-Yogurtcloset@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Out of curiosity, why do you got a Ryzen 7 randomly chilling over there ?

[–] PuzzleheadedSector2@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

That's actually a r5 2600x. The r7 is in my pc. That's just my shelf for random tech shit I don't use. I never use either of the amps on that shelf either.

[–] Most-Yogurtcloset@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Thank god you don’t use that anime figurine like others……..

I love my Beyerdynamic dt 770 250 ohms, especially since I got them for $4 at goodwill. They are the best audiophile headphones I own.

How those Sundara CB sound?

[–] whitesaviorbehavior@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

How are you liking those closed sundaras?

The question I was about to do, thinking about buying, they are 170ish here

[–] Shaking_Sniper@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Also interested in the Sundara CB's lol, especially compared to the DT-770.

Everybody seems to crap on them, but nobody has compared them to arguably its closest competitor now with is the 770. Any thoughts?

[–] AntOk463@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Early last year, I owned 2 of these headphones and individually considered buying all 5 of these.

[–] AntOk463@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Out of all 5 of these, which headphone has the best bass response? With and without EQ.

I had the DT770 and wasn't impressed with the bass response, I thought the AKG had a cleaner bass response than the DT770. I think the Sundara and DT770 had more bass than the AKG, but the AKG bass quality was really good. With EQ the bass in the Sundara and DT770 didn't improve much, but the AKG with EQ had amazing bass response.

I haven't actually tested out the 770s anytime recently. Just got this set cus some guy listed them on ebay as for parts. But they work perfectly fine. I just haven't used them properly because the pads are absolutely, insanely gross and crusty. New ones on the way. For me, I find I can't really focus on sound until I'm comfortable with the fit of the headphone. Hence why I dislike the sundara CB. It's too heavy and hot. This is also the reason I prefer 770 over 700 and why out of all of these, the akg is my fave. I'm too busy atm to do hours of ab testing. But I can give them all a solid listen in a few weeks if you are still interested.

How does the sundara closed back compare to the dt 700/770?

[–] PuzzleheadedSector2@alien.top 0 points 1 year ago

I just got my headphones set up on their new mounts. Hopefully I do not need to buy new mounts anytime soon. I am not looking to expand my collection much larger than this, I feel I’m in a pretty nice spot and am happy with what I have. That’s not to say there isn’t something coming in the mail rn…

how do u like the akg?

i tried the beyers they weren't for me, they were good, but not for that price, also the soundstage is really boxed in...

[–] PuzzleheadedSector2@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Honestly I like everything on the shelf except the sundara CBs. The akgs are my favorites. They are just sooo nice comfort wise. Allows me to really focus on the music. The beyers have decent comfort. The hd6xx is tight. Sundaras are heavy. But the akgs are like a cloud sitting on my head. Barely feel them.
