I'm so glad pal world exists. It completely shows how lazy Pokémon has become.

It's so stupid too. Imagine if there was this fight when Doom came out suing Duke Nukem 3D and Quake. The industry thrives on iteration.

Not to invalidate your point, but Doom and Quake were both made by id software

[–] oyo@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 month ago

Ok Wolfenstein then...

Wait

[–] Albbi@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

Man, how did I not know that? I was mostly thinking of the Duke Nukem line: "I ain't afraid of no Quake" when coming up with games that clearly use the same mechanics but didn't go around suing each other. And Duke Nukem 3D was obviously based on the FPS games that came before.

true, they stopped trying after gen 5. they got lazier and lazier(as in the types of unique pokemon is just a rehashed version of a previous generations), as you can tell the post-game content has getting smaller and smaller. plus Masuda Spearheads the game consoles, and he already mention he wasnt going to try and develop the game further.

I like to pirate Nintendo games and seed them.

It's such a clearly bad faith argument that I'd like to see the lawyers being called out for that in the court.

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 2 points 1 month ago

… were you mentioned both states are fascistic? Courts mean nothing to fashcorps.

Fuck Nintendo, all my homies hate Nintendo

Hey guys, I guess Counter-Strike isn't real. The over one million people that play it every day are just a schizophrenic hallucination.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Or Black Mesa (the fanmade Half-Life remake that got a full blessing from Valve, even getting prominent as placement)

Or Forgotten City (that was a Skyrim mod, first), Chex Quest was a fucking Doom mod, Heroes of the Storm, Killing Floor, Insurgency, PUBG, Stanley Parable, Team Fortress, Vintage Story, etc.

Alien Swarm is an official Valve game that also started as a mod. I just listed the most popular ones imo.

I just got information that Super Mario Bros 2 is literally a fucking mod. Of Doki Doki Panic. Someone tell the Palworld devs to send this to their lawyers. What I would give to be a fly in the wall when the judge of the case gets this presented to them.

That is a terrible argument. Prior art is not required to be standalone. And if we start requiring it to be standalone, that calls into question almost every game out there. They almost all require some kind of operating system to actually run

[–] MoreZombies@piefed.au 1 points 1 month ago

Don't all the Call of Duty games have Quake at their heart?

[–] Horse@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

it is always morally correct to pirate nintendo games

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 1 points 1 month ago

The problem is how do you hold buyers accountable for rewarding the fashcorp?
