That would be great news, if we were ever going to have elections again.

Nepal has taught the world that you don't need your government to have an election.

That's cool that some people are (finally) figuring out what a total clown Orange Jesus is, but....did Hitler's poll numbers really mattered after he seized power?

[–] Rivalarrival@lemmy.today 3 points 5 days ago

He's not Hitler. He's Louis the 16th.

[–] DrDickHandler@lemmy.world 20 points 5 days ago (2 children)

RATINGS DON'T MATTER ANYMORE. Stop posting this shit.

[–] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 5 points 5 days ago

I feel bad for the citizens that voted against this. But every protest sitter outer, and person that did vote for this can't say shit.

It's an attempt to keep up morale from people that think we'll get midterms

Pretty sure the election was stolen and all those swing states anyway. It’s statistically improbable that he won all seven swing states. Not to mention the election tampering, Starlink, etc.

Donald Trump has cheated at literally EVERYTHING in his life: he cheated on every wife, he cheats at golf and wins every tournament at all of his courses, he cheats on his taxes, he uses bankruptcy as a money laundering strategy, etc. He cheats in every aspect of his life, but the Democrats want us to believe that he won "fair & square," and millions of people in the swing states voted straight Democratic tickets, except with Trump at the top. They've never produced a single one of these Democratic Trump voters, which only exist in the swing states, apparently.

According to Democratic leadership, the one election that he absolutely HAD to win, in order to avoid spending the rest of his life in prison, is the ONLY time that he played it "fair & square," and didn't cheat. Does that sound the Trump we've all come to know?

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Statistically im probable?

[–] T00l_shed@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Yes thanks lol

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 26 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Does not matter when votes won't happen...

They'll surely find an excuse.

People have the memory of a goldfish. In 2028, the democratic candidate is going to have some obscure flaw that'll be pushed to every media station and social network that caters to the party that punishes opponents, and most Americans will forget the past 4 years and focus on this one flaw.

[–] pleaseletmein@lemmy.zip 20 points 6 days ago (1 children)

“Yes Hitler McRacismCEO is a fascist, but Steve NotANazi clears his throat weird. Both sides are the same. Don't vote.”

[–] Raiderkev@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

I had to put my both sides are the same friend on blast the other day when he said that tired bullshit. They very fucking clearly aren't. You could maybe get away with that in like 1999, but not in the modern era. One side is chock full of fucking cartoon villains.

[–] queermunist@lemmy.ml 2 points 5 days ago

The 2028 nominee will be Liz Cheney or something.

[–] saruwatarikooji@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

That's what all the labeling of groups as terrorists is for, along with the troop deployment to cities. They are going to try to effectively declare war on terrorism in various cities and states and use that war to suspend elections.

Don’t tell him which states, cause he’s gonna invade those and start meddling

[–] druid74@reddthat.com 26 points 6 days ago

If he is still alive in 2028, there is no chance he allows fair and free elections, so this does not matter at all.

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago

Cool. May he keep dropping til he falls back to hell

[–] frustrated@lemmy.world 16 points 6 days ago (2 children)

I dont know why this is relevant. Either he prevented from running, in which case this doesnt matter; OR he IS running in violation of the law, in which case this doesnt batter because if he is willing to break an established precent and law then he would not leave his third term open to chance by having free or fair elections.

[–] null_dot@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 6 days ago (1 children)

... or they just don't have elections.

He's already spoken about it. If there's a "war" they don't need elections.

The worst part is that there’s no actual law about that anywhere. He’s looking at Ukraine’s suspended elections, but that was only possible because Ukraine’s constitution specifically states that elections can be suspended during war. The US constitution doesn’t have any such clause. But I’m sure he’ll try anyways, and the current SCOTUS will let him.

Maybe seeing the winds change can help the chickenshit congress find their spine and make the 25th ammendment happen?

[–] EmpireInDecay@lemmy.ml 17 points 6 days ago (2 children)

There's probably not a single president that cared about approval ratings in their second term. Regardless of what they may think about a particular candidate at this point between elections, they will vote according to their needs on election Day

[–] watson387@sopuli.xyz 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Trump definitely cares. He thrives on that kind of shit.

[–] EmpireInDecay@lemmy.ml 2 points 6 days ago

He doesn't care about approval ratings, those are measurements or projections of future acceptance. He cares about right now and keeping his name in the media, good or bad. Anytime there is a lull in his name circulating he will make the most outrageous claim or statement so media refocuses on him.

[–] oppy1984@lemdro.id 2 points 6 days ago

I would say they do care, if their ratings are down then their party is likely to win elections in the midterm. If their party is out of power in the house or senate after the midterm then the president loses power since the other party is less likely to vote in favor of things the president wants, and more likely to launch investigations into the president and administration officials.

There's also the fact that you want your successor to be from your party because 1) it says you did a good enough job the people wanted more of the same, 2) your successor will most likely continue things you've started and help secure your legacy.

In the end remember that most politicians are vain power hungry people, having low poll numbers at any time could hurt their egos and their ability to wield power.

[–] SethTaylor@lemmy.world 6 points 5 days ago

Makes sense. He looks like he's been underwater himself

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 12 points 6 days ago* (last edited 6 days ago)

Approval rating doesn't matter if we never get to vote again and even if we do, he's a lame duck anyway.

[–] Sunflier@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

So? He doesn't care

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago

Too late, thanks to the dumbfuck voting population.

[–] melsaskca@lemmy.ca 2 points 5 days ago

The cabal playing him like a fiddle approve.
