Excluded is the one month of IGN+ or whatever. This one actually seems kinda decent, if not for the fact I have no interest in the System Shock remake.

Wait, isn't Story of Seasons the new name for the Harvest Moon franchise? What's a Nintendo game doing on there?

[–] abbotsbury@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Sure looks like it

[–] BCBoy911@lemmy.ca 4 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Its not a Nintendo franchise. Iirc there were harvest moon games for Playstation back in the day.

[–] BigPotato@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

Famously there's been a big schism between the Sony version and the Nintendo version too, just ask which is better, 64 or Back to Nature.

[–] Rai@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 hour ago

64 is one of my favorite games of all time, BTN is objectively better though (with horrible loading times tho)

I love them both but BTN is just… more better, although Karen was MUCH better as a mean bitch in 64. She was so much cooler.

Atomic Heart was an absolute slog. Most of the enemies are the generic dummy from Spirit Halloween, the story gets rushed into 40 minutes of cutscenes at the end, it was a drag getting there and the main character is written like he's trying to impress 13 year olds with swears. Even has a stupid catch phrase and hates his glove for no reason. "Hey there I'm Charles I'm here to help you out and give you super powers!" "FUCK YOU CHARLES I HATE YOU AND HOPE YOU DIE YOU ANNOYING PIECE OF SHIT"

Also I guess the devs support what Russia is doing to the Ukraine so don't give them money.

  • Atomic Heart is a trippy experience, i liked what i saw.
  • V Rising is cool, so is the System Shock Remake!
  • Cryptmaster is a great game, i really enjoyed it!

I’m going to cancel my membership, I will not support the devs of Atomic Heart as they support Russia.

Thank you by not only voting with your (non-)purchase, but also to highlight the reasons to inform people who are willing to be informed.

Caravan SandWitch is pretty cute. I enjoyed playing it even though the ending is kind of mid.

I wanted to like Atomic Heart because it's my favorite genre/style (cyberpunk/immersive sim). But ironically, it felt like it has no heart. I was so bored by the gameplay, the writing, and the characters. Actually, the MC and his assistant are actively annoying. It looks really good, but it's just not compelling.

[–] CanadianCorhen@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 day ago

The vibe and the music are 10/10, the story and gameplay 4/10.

Still enjoying it, but not nearly as good as a lot of rpg classics

[–] Drewmeister@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago

Oh, I've also played the System Shock remake. It's pretty good in both story and game elements, but it is missing some modern refinements that make games more accessible. So just expect that if you play it, you might have to take some notes about objectives and codes that a modern game would just remember for you. I don't think it's a detriment, and you may end up enjoying the more obtuse nature.

And then maybe you too can take a long break from the game and come back to think, "What the hell was I doing?"

[–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

The horny vending machine killed it for me.

[–] jedibob5@lemmy.world 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Yeah, I was already iffy on the writing up to that point, but at that moment I could only assume that the writers unironically believed Rick & Morty was the peak of highbrow humor.

[–] CanadianCorhen@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 day ago

The horny vending machine is only in the tutorial area...

But everything is only sexualized, such as the doors: https://share.google/miJas72vM0TEjaK2k

[–] fulg@lemmy.world 4 points 2 days ago

Agreed, the story and characters really make no sense. I still found the game interesting enough to play it to the end, and it was ok. It was really the setting that kept me going, though.

PSA, the Trapped in Limbo DLC is hot garbage and should be avoided, it will instantly ruin any good memory you had of the game.

[–] SCmSTR@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

How was the music? Mick Gordon (doom 2016) did it, iirc

[–] agent_nycto@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

Exactly one song is cool, the other parts are... Eh.

[–] NichtElias@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Haven't played the other games, but V Rising is really good. I'd recommend playing with a friend

[–] owenfromcanada@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago

I'll second that. If you don't have a friend or group to play with, jump on one of the official servers. I did one run like that, the other players were quite helpful and generally positive (I was on a PvE server, can't speak for PvP).

[–] Modest_Toxic@feddit.uk 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Stupid question but can I subscribe claim the games and then just unsubscribe? I can't see anywhere to just pay a one off fee for the bundle

[–] Provolone@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Yeah. That's what I do.

Shogun Showdown is a blast. Can't say I have an opinion on any of the others.

[–] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 4 points 1 day ago

Cryptmaster is both hilarious and fun to play. Maybe the art choices aren't for everyone, but I did love the old ttrpg illustration style.

Sometimes I will just throw weird words to see if there's a recording of it.

[–] Davel23@fedia.io 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The original System Shock is one of my favorite games of all time. While I'm sure the remake was well done, I doubt it will invoke much nostalgia in me.

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

As someone familiar with System Shock 2 but had never played the first one because it looked just a bit too crusty for me, the remake is a banger of a game that seems by all accounts to be a pretty soulful recreation of the original. I do recommend it, Nightdive did good work here.

[–] Davel23@fedia.io 3 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Its crustiness was a large part of its charm for me.

[–] passenger@sopuli.xyz 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I think they made the remaster nicely crusty. You should try the demo at least if it's available still

[–] Davel23@fedia.io 1 points 1 day ago

I'm subscribed to Humble Choice, so I'll be getting the full game. I'll give it a try.

[–] skulblaka@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 day ago

Totally understandable because I feel exactly the same way about Morrowind. Rock on brother.

[–] recklessengagement@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

This is the first month in a while that hasn't made me consider cancelling my membership.

[–] winkerjadams@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 1 day ago (2 children)

So you still pay every month for crap you don't want?

[–] recklessengagement@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago

Just haven't gotten around to cancelling, i guess

[–] Wildmimic@anarchist.nexus 1 points 1 day ago

I do the same, but i know i have a game hoarding problem, and i don't want to lose my grandfathered in "i get all games in the bundle" - perk. And Tbh, i didn't have a month yet where i didn't get at least my moneys worth; if anything, the games i didn't know about prevented me from spending more.

[–] ThunderComplex@lemmy.today 2 points 1 day ago

A surprisingly good bundle. Basically any one game is worth the price.
Just a little sad I own most of these already.

[–] overload@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 day ago

6 of the 8 games were on my ITAD wait list so I'm thrilled. Best month I've ever seen.

[–] proper@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago

i’m finally happy for the first time in a while. I think it typically comes down to “ah I already have the big game(s)”, or not. sometimes they really are just bad tho.
