Reptile leather is generally considered more formal, but it doesn't have to be; it can always be dressed down. Buy from a reputable strap maker, not some random Aliexpress seller, to make sure you're getting quality materials. Should you buy one? No idea...I don't know you or your preferences.

Without knowing which watch the strap is for, or what your activities will be like on a daily basis, it's hard to recommend a strap at all
If you do decide on a leather strap, I'd highly recommend getting something custom from Vietnam. Ziczac Leather and Tuns Leather are my go-to places. Excellent quality, and the prices are really good for what you get
I have a green one on a Hamilton Khaki King and I wear it with a T-shirt and jeans some days. I just like it. Wear whatever you like, friend.
You can also buy regular leather straps that have been pressed into a crocodile grain. These would be a great option to test drive the look without spending a lot more money for the real thing. Link to a reputable shop: https://holbensfinewatchbands.com/pages/search-results-page?q=Crocodile%20
