Probably Oaxaca. If you head down to the bus station area of town it's not so nice but the centre is lovely, and it's surrounded by nature.

Český Krumlov was pretty cool. Not a city thought I guess

St Petersburg hands down. Moscow was beautiful too. I liked Prague and Krakow as well. And Yogyajakarta!
I like Lisbon.
same
Budapest, Paris, Porto, Lviv, Krakow, Prague, Vienna. In no particular order, but I was very impressed by Budapest the first time I went there.
Rio is also beautiful is we take the surrounding nature into account. The city itself is not particularly amazing (there are some nice neighborhoods for sure though), but the area in which it is located is incredible.
Great list! Pleasantly surprised by Budapest too. Gorgeous city especially at night. I’d also add Kyoto, Kanazawa, most Italian cities, Split, Granada, Cusco, and Cape Town in the same sense as Rio.
Zurich: like going back to the 1500s. Clean, beautifully preserved old town, lake, and views of the alps in the background. (The pay packet is definitely pretty too if you're working there :)
Medellin: I'm talking from an aesthetic pov (definitely not about the expats). Beautiful, vibrant buildings, graffiti, mountain views.
Singapore: Spotlessly clean, and beautiful old colonial style architecture and buildings.
Kanazawa: peaceful, serene, clean, Kenruoken garden is a thing of beauty.
If you ask me Izmir in Turkey is fabulous. It is a totally different city from all the other Turkish cities. It has a way more relaxed vibe and people are generous. And the weather is amazing.
Maybe Kyoto.
- Kas, Turkey
- Fez, Morocco
- Xlendi, Malta
Can’t believe no one has said Cape Town yet! Ocean on one side, mountains on the other? Come on, you can’t beat that!
Close runner up is probably Sydney with its harbour, beaches, architecture and close proximity to stunning nature.
Old Montreal, kyoto
Cisco, Illinois
Montpellier is my hidden gem
Kanazawa when the sakura were blooming.
Underated. Bergamo the old city is amazing. Vienna for sure
Basel
Da Lat is closest to my heart.
I also love Istanbul for some reason.
There's also Mompox, along the Magdalena River in Colombia. So pretty, but tiny and with no opportunities. But super pretty. The city that doesn't exist, according to Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
Rijeka, Cro.
Rothenburg, Germany. In the lead up to Christmas, it’s picture perfect.
Old san juan puerto rico
I really love the vibe and look of Bruges. It’s a smaller chiller Prague/Amsterdam etc
Kyoto, San Miguel de Allende, Kuala Lumpur, New York City, Ubud and Amsterdam.
Not all parts, but many parts are stupendous. Takes your breath away!
Singapore. You said ‘city’ and I can’t think of a more apt place I’ve been, though Berlin is up there. Singapore by day vs night is completely different, everywhere lights up, water features included etc. it’s truly amazing to see the transition after sunset
