Zurich: like going back to the 1500s. Clean, beautifully preserved old town, lake, and views of the alps in the background. (The pay packet is definitely pretty too if you're working there :)

Medellin: I'm talking from an aesthetic pov (definitely not about the expats). Beautiful, vibrant buildings, graffiti, mountain views.

Singapore: Spotlessly clean, and beautiful old colonial style architecture and buildings.

Kanazawa: peaceful, serene, clean, Kenruoken garden is a thing of beauty.

Thailand. Now this may rub people the wrong way because a lot of people like thailand (and yes, there are loads of 'normal tourists' there) but almost every (s)expat I've come across living there has been a sexual degenerate and/or misfit in western society. Their lives revolve around women and drinking.

(dis)honorable mention: Colombia, Phillipines, Cambodia. Lots of creepy motherfuckers descending on otherwise beautiful countries (which they've no real interest in seeing the sights of).

The catch is that you'll be stung for a massive electricity bill when you check out. Mine was approximately 30 to 40% of the rent.

If your paying 1.5k in Bangkok you're getting scammed. Don't use airbnb. Local sites you can find places for 250 bucks plus utilities.

Want to save money, don't use airbnb. Ivrre gotten way better deals on agoda, or on local sites for monthly rentals.

I realized that no matter where I am in the world, I am still me.

You can't zoom in on the photos.

Different city, but least chill environment I've ever experienced. Impossible to navigate, impossible to pay for things (no cash or credit card accepted in many places) impossible to communicate, impossible to get a good internet connection. Everywhere smelt of smoke, even mane places indoors. No thanks. I doubt Hangzhou is magically differrent.

Saigon and Hanoi = overwhelming noise and air pollution and inability to cross the streets or even use a sidewalk (motos drive on them too).
