I might even believe the excuse that these were placeholders left in accidentally, because this is shockingly bad AI gens (like some super old models), but it's also modern day Ubisoft...

A probable timeline:

  • "We're investing in artificial intelligence to boost our teams' productivity."

  • "Our shift to AI has streamlined our development processes (according to middle management), so we've laid off a number of workers as redundant."

  • "The people who remain don't know which AI assets were meant to be placeholders."

  • "We're delaying our financials and suspending trading of our stock, but there's no cause for alarm."

I still don't understand how a company gets to decide to stop trafing their stock....

I'm fairly certain that the company itself can't unilaterally halt trading.

Ubisoft fans should be accustomed to being incredibly disappointed by now, surely.

I have so many old games to play it’s very easy to never again buy anything from Ubisoft or EA

Tho to be fair with my backlog I dont need to buy any games ever again

As I start my 37th playthrough of fallout 4, only to stop halfway through to start my 6th playthrough of cyberpunk.

Damn, why do all these big companies with plenty of resources have to be using this stuff

The name alone when I saw an ad made me cringe.

This image was a placeholder asset that unintentionally slipped through our review process.

If this is true, then that's just unbelievably sloppy. I work in an industry that does use AI generated audio as a temporary placeholder, but we keep that shit isolated on a separate server with layers of identifiers all over the files to make it clear it is not to be shipped, ever. And in the process of sending our deliverables over to QC, we disconnect from that server entirely so any of those AI generated assets are immediately knocked offline. There's really no excuse for a studio as big as this with as many resources as it has.
