This feature is completely optional and is never turned on by default.

Until Microsoft decides to turn it on without your consent or knowledge at some point.

Good, windows 11 update gave me a boot device error 2 days ago, was on the fence whether repairing or going back to Linux. Happy they made the choice for me.
