I know one shouldn't be installing apps from shady sources, but what if I just want to try out and app before actually purchasing it from the play store.

Are there any good sources to download from ?

It's always best to stick with official platforms like the Google Play Store for app downloads to ensure safety and avoid malware. While it might be tempting to try out apps from unofficial sources, it can expose your device to potential risks. Some apps offer free trials or "lite" versions on the Play Store, so it’s worth checking those first. Always prioritize security over convenience!着信音

Mobilism. Comments work similar to torrent comments on giving me warnings if an apk is bad or its because the user doesnt know how to differentiate against false flags/actually dumb.

I used to use mobilism and would recommend it. Nowadays I just find foss alternatives

[–] kratoz29@lemm.ee 0 points 1 year ago

For real, FOSS alternatives are pretty damn good, I have learned so much since I got here.

Mobilism most of the time and also Telegram channels from modder groups.

[–] oldGregg@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Are these telegram groups invite only or could I perhaps join?

[–] lckdscl@whiskers.bim.boats 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They're public groups, maybe there are better private groups but then you might as well go to Mobilism and make an App request. I prefer these channels to the modder's website because you don't get anti-adblock banners and it's faster to search.

Look for RBMods, MixRoot Mods, there is also a LiteApk channel. Those are what I have at the moment. I'm sure there are many others you can find through those channels alone.

[–] ColdWater@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

For me it work 70% of the time no root

[–] yum13241@lemm.ee 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

4pda board, but you have to be logged in to be able to download files

[–] hempster@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

+1 I was able to find apps that were not available on Mobilism

[–] Ozzy@lemmy.ml 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

apkmirror most of the time.

Worth looking into mobilism forum. They have modded apks to unlock premium stuff, not sure if what they have is ratted, just make sure you're on the real forum. (I believe it's the .org domain? correct me if I'm wrong)

I recently stumbled upon platinmods dot com, don't know whether it is safe though so a comment from someone who knows about this site more will be appreciated

[–] Azurebalmunk@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

It's safe. I would stick to the approved/verified and tested mods sections of the site.

[–] lissajonees@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

It's risky to download apps from unofficial sources due to malware. Instead, look for trial versions or use legitimate alternatives like Google Play Pass or app store promotions for safe testing Telefon Csengőhangok

I agree with your point of view, downloading pirated Android apps will bring many dangers, that's why I advise you to find safe, reliable addresses to download such as free ringtones
