ICE isn't anywhere near us yet. I am never unarmed, at home or in public. I will certainly die if they come for me, but masked men at my door or approaching my brown wife are going to be attacked with everything I got. And I am scared shitless.
Easy for me to say, I've lived a fairly wild and interesting life, no longer a young man with the world ahead of me. ICE has made it crystal clear, they are going to kill us with impunity. Though I am scared to die yet willing to fight, I have decided I will not volunteer for it.
And for everyone saying, "Where my 2A boys at?" Right here. (Sorta. I'm a big time gun nut that is ambivalent about the 2A.) What exactly am I to do? If I'm going to throw my life away, it better fucking count. I've drawn the line on defending my wife, but am I to actively hunt fascists in other states?
What would you have me do? I could arm my entire block, though everyone already has some sort of guns, even the little old black lady across the street. Then what? My knowledge of insurgency is limited to books and movies. ?
What would I have you do? Mutual aid my friend. Make sure friends, neighbours, and allies are safe, have food and shelter. Build community. I too would take your path. I’m closer to 60 than I like and won’t go looking for trouble anymore, but I will defend my wife and kids.
Community is your best defence against the rising authoritarianism and something that the fascists want to take from you. They want you alone and scared.
Find like minded people. It won’t be hard. Support them. The hard part that I have found, is letting them support me.

Why is Minneapolis so often at the center of these sorts of things?
Because they didn’t vote for Trump last election, the governor ran against trump, and they have sanely said they want ICE out of their state/city. I’m sure there are more reasons and they probably revolve around an orange pedophile who got his feelings hurt.
ICE didn’t do any of their nonsense in NJ until after the gubernatorial election went in favor of the Democratic candidate. I assume they didn’t want to bring out the vote against the republicans with their jackboot tactics. They arrested a family of legal residents in Trenton on the night of Christmas Eve. Fucking transparent and disgusting.
Because the Governor of Minnesota ran against Trump and their representative is a black immigrant that says mean things about Trump.
But things like this happened before the 2nd term as well.
