Lindell went public by tweeting that that Fox, which had been one of MyPillow’s biggest advertising outlets, had canceled him. He said in his tweet that he didn’t know why but that he suspected that the network was trying to silence him. Fox denied that.

Losing Fox was just the latest in a series of financial and legal setbacks for Minnesota-based MyPillow and Lindell, who continues to propagate former President Donald Trump’s lies that the 2020 election was stolen from him, in part by rigged voting machine systems. Several big-box retailers, including Walmart, have discontinued his products, and lawyers who were defending him against defamation lawsuits by voting machine companies quit.

“As soon as their account is paid, we would be happy to accept their advertising,” Fox spokeswoman Irena Briganti said.

“They’re 100% lying,” Lindell said an interview with The Associated Press. But he acknowledged that MyPillow owes money to Fox. He put the figure at $7.8 million, but he insisted that the sum is within his credit line with the network. He said MyPillow has long spent an average of $1 million a week to run its ads on Fox. And he said the network had long allowed him 12 weeks of credit until it recently cut that to eight weeks.

Wow, they're still in business? I bought a couple of the pillows years ago before I knew who this guy was. He was shilling them in a Costco and we were like, "Eh fuck it, let's give them a try!"

Awful, awful pillows. Just totally ignore the fact that he's an awful man: The pillows are objectively bad. Who the fuck keeps buying them???

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 36 points 10 months ago (1 children)

This is what the pillows are: He takes discarded furniture foam that he buys in bulk from furniture factories on the cheap, he grinds it up and he puts it in a pillow. Not a bad idea for a way to make money if you don't care about the quality of your product.

As for why people buy them? He's on TV. That's all it takes.

i paid like eight bucks for a no-name pillow of similar construction (shredded 'memory foam') at walmart. is a decent pillow, especially at that price. it replaced a name-brand (sealy) one (solid piece instead of shredded) that literally disintegrated on the inside.

whatever inflated price this guy charges is a rip-off.

[–] homesweethomeMrL@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

Yeah I never bought one of those, but a shredded-memory-foam pillow works for me because you can unzip it and take out as much as you want to make it the perfect amount of squishy. Put it in a separate ziplock and if you change your mind later and want to add some back - done and done.

lmao, his business is going down the tubes, so Fox cut his credit line from $12M to $8M, and he hit his credit limit. Rather than pay up, he gets cut off a cries, "They cancelled me!"

lmao

He denied that he owed them money, called them liars, then immediately admitted that he did indeed owe them money. This guy is such a moron

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago

To be fair he's only taking 300 level courses right now. Sadly there's no further classes because Trump U went under.

To conservatives, "canceled" and "silenced" can be defined as "experiencing the consequences of my own words and actions." "Cancel culture" isn't a real thing, full stop.

Anyway, what a maroon.

[–] takeda@lemmy.world 15 points 10 months ago (1 children)

He didn't know why... The unpaid $7.8 million to Fox can't possibly be the reason, no sirre.

[–] LinkOpensChest_wav@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 10 months ago

Mike Lindell is like a toddler crying that mommy won't let him eat as many cookies as he wants before bed.

My husband had to meet him through his work. It sounds like this is pretty consistent behavior throughout every single aspect of his life.

Imagine throwing away your life, your credibility, your successful business built over years, to support Donald Trump's baseless conspiracy theories. Mike got exactly what he deserved.
