Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.

  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

From prescribing spiritual warfare to demonizing health experts, RFK Jr’s health empire has become a dangerous vehicle for a Christian nationalist worldview

@MicroWave from the beginning of the AIDS crisis it has been clear that right-wing Christians and their puppets in the GOP intend to "punish sinners" by blocking risk-reduction, treatment, and research. They want us to die and suffer.

The cure is knowledge.

They think: if you have AIDS then you are a bad person, by definition. If you are a good person then you won't have AIDS, by definition. And we only do good things for good people.

I think it's more specifically if you had AIDS then you did something... Something that they personally find morally questionable/reprehensible, And because they find it morally questionable the consequences should be no medical help whatsoever and to be punished for their sins endlessly... Never mind if they happen to catch a disease by no fault of their own.

It's much simpler than that. Good things = good people. Bad things = bad people.

"Spiritual and physical maladies thrive on one another, the solution must begin with a spiritual question”, of personal responsibility and inward vigilance against the dark forces that would keep Americans “sedated” and “compliant”.

Darth Vader not wrong....

As a Democratic socialist this is the biggest problem I see in America. We have a whole bunch of people - the majority of people - that want change, they want social programs, they want better education, and they want better health care. We want prison reform. And on and on. Civil rights. Lgbtq rights. Immigrant rights. And on and on.

Yet people don't really organize. Even at the protests people don't organize. They don't come together. They walk around in their little groups/cliques carrying stupid signs, wearing stupid costumes, and other stupid shit. They might as well have their heads firmly up their own asses.

There's no unity. And it'll be our undoing.

And that's why the right is going to win. They have unity. They have loyalty ... even if it's to a pedophilic demagogue... They have shared spirit and purpose.

United States is extremely divided. Join a club my fellow Americans. Whether that's a church or a community garden or sports team or fishing club or bicycle collective or chess club or maybe an improv group. When we get together and we can see past stupid political divides and we see what really matters in life then democracy thrives.

The reason most people, especially working class people, don’t is because they work so much that they have no free time and have their healthcare tied to employers who will fire their asses if they dared not work on a specific day.

No one ever said it would be easy, they make it hard on purpose.

And the people who do have time for that tend to be wealthy or unemployed or retired or below voting age. I get it. Working poors get no respect. Essential workers are treated like commodities to use and discard.
