Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

Rules
  1. πŸ˜‡ Be Nice!

    • Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: friendly.
  2. 🏘️ Community Standards

    • Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.
    • Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.
    • Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.
    • Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.
  3. 🧬 Keep it Real

    • Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.
  4. πŸ“½οΈ Credit Where Credit is Due

    • Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a reverse image search to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.
    • Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!
  5. πŸ“‹ Post Formatting

    • Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author's website.
    • Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.
    • When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g.,
      βœ… Correct: https://xkcd.com/386/
      ❌ Incorrect: https://xkcd.com/
  6. πŸ“¬ Post Frequency/SPAM

    • Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5 πŸ–) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author's comics. Any comics exceeding five (5 πŸ–) will be removed.
  7. πŸ΄β€β˜ οΈ Internationalization (i18n)

    • Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g.,
      SΓ, por favor [Spanish/EspaΓ±ol]
  8. 🍿 Moderation

    • We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.
    • When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.
Banned Artists

The following artists are banned from the community.

  1. Jago
  2. Stonetoss

It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.

Web Accessibility

Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.

When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you're posting:

Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what's going on. (example)

I think an important facet here is the fact that I don't just disengage with people because I'm afraid of debating them or whatever. Most people's opinions are locked the fuck in and there's nothing you can say that will ever change what they think.

[–] zeezee@slrpnk.net 62 points 5 days ago (9 children)

dont feed the troll - felix will say the most misogynistic shit imaginable and then hide behind the smarmiest "its just jokes y u so mad bro??"

only reason ive not blocked felix is so i can bring this shit up when they post obvious ragebait

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 7 points 4 days ago

Felix is definitely a Russian grandpa

This is a type of pettiness I can get behind!

Missing the decades in which they tried persuading, debating, discussing and educating up to this tipping point, this final straw, all to no avail.

Are we supposed to just keep trying forever, pointlessly? Exhaustingly? Every day? For another 30 years?

At some point for our own mental wellbeing it's time to consider that some people will simply never change, are closed to any and all discussions, and it's best for ourselves to stop trying over and over, and focus on our own mental health instead.

I was idealistic once, and would have said there's never a time to stop trying to fix other people, to help them see a different viewpoint, or mortality, etc, but some people just can't be fixed. All you're really doing by continuing to try is breaking yourself in the process. Be kind to yourself <3

[–] Grail@multiverse.soulism.net 28 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I'm always gonna try to persuade others to be kinder and more responsible, but I don't bother with people who A: have chosen to ignore future arguments, B: hurt those who try to persuade them. I'll keep talking to any absolute shithead who actively listens and doesn't attack Me.

[–] U7826391786239@piefed.zip 15 points 5 days ago (8 children)

A: have chosen to ignore future arguments, B: hurt those who try to persuade them.

this has been the core conservative M.O. for decades, metastasizing into trump's constant assault on any statement anywhere that isn't heaping fawning praise on him. "fake news" he says, and that is instantly parroted by his cult following. there is no "persuade" with people who have chosen to discard reality in favor of the completely insane fantasy land of the cult hive maga mind.

so yea. unfriend, burn those bridges, and never miss an opportunity to shame, mock, and ridicule all fascists' wrong viewpoints and opinions

I’m not debating my right to literally exist with anyone. Fuck right off.

[–] PhoenixDog@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

Right? This isn't about pineapple on pizza. It's jot even how taxes should be spent, or the economy on general.

If you're against my right as a human being to exist, there's nothing to pursuade or debate. Just fuck off out of my life.

[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 57 points 5 days ago (8 children)

Debate? Have you tried persuade tankie that Putin's action on Ukraine is bad?

This assumes good intent no? Usually the issues I'm not willing to debate or discuss with some dick head is because they're, in fact not trying to debate with good intent.

Ah yes, when far right extremists complain about people not wanting to listen to them.

Fitting OP's account as usual.

The irony of posting this to Lemmy

[–] iusearchbtw@feddit.uk 33 points 5 days ago

don't you think this is an ironic comic to post for an account whose main contributions to this community are comics in the format of "turns to guy I don't like: you are fucking stupid"

[–] OwOarchist@pawb.social 23 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Ah, you're right. Instead, I should waste away my precious little free time in pointless online """"debates"""" with people who may or may not be AI propaganda chatbots.

To be honest with ya. I thought about this and after dealing with some nasty dipshit on IRC after I blocked them with my client due to their politics.

I am going to say. That I'm glad I didn't have to listen to them threaten me and my friends afterwards or throw a hissy fit over me saying some pretty hard line things.

Like I will not give these people air to even breathe. I don't want to interact with rightoid politics because these people are way too far gone that nothing I can say or anyone else is going to do anything to change their shitty opinions.

The time for civil debate is over when these people start acting like children or make up stuff like Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Communities of any kind in my opinion have every right to defend themselves alongside individuals against shitty people.

[–] mlc894@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Didn’t you just post something with the opposite message, not even a month ago?

[–] lovely_reader@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

I can't tell if these are meant as messages or just observations

Edit: I had not considered the third possibility: shitposts

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 11 points 5 days ago

The poster of this fascist boomer shit is exactly who I expected. 🫩

"Unfriend" ? What year is it

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I think if Reddit/Lemmy users want to do anything more than preaching to the choir during their time online and build actual bridges, they need to go on Facebook. Because there's no way Facebook boomers are coming over here.

[–] Prunebutt@slrpnk.net 9 points 5 days ago (3 children)

Or you could, you know: go outside and talk to people IRL? (touching grass, as it were)

[–] DaMummy@hilariouschaos.com 3 points 5 days ago

In the outernet?

[–] SubArcticTundra@lemmy.ml 3 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

Yes, that is the best solution of all

If I wasn't against it, social media would not show me this.

[–] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Everything is better disconnected online. There no convincing people online. Only in person, where people are more moderate, and more likely to express more moderate views or not fall/goad into petty debate.

... except for Felix.
