As a Canadian we can hold whatever opinions about you we want. It’s not like we can vote in the US anyways, and it’s not like Americans spend much time looking away from their algorhorims to see what we think.

I have turned to searXNG to self host a search engine, sure it scrapes from the google but I am not logged in. I use Unwatched to block youtube ads and tracking, I have a couple of pihole’s set up as my DNS servers to block ads and tracking. I am slowly moving away from Apple things so I am self hosting Home Assistant, if there is anything that sends data to the google they are slowly being removed. I have my “smart TV” turned to something somehow that makes it think it is a dumb TV, and it cannot talk to the outside world.

I sail the high seas for everything except CBC so I am not paying for US content, I use the *arr suite of apps like sonarr. I am vibe coding with, I am sad to say Claude, a replacement for google news to send me news on topics I am interested in. I have 2 domains at the moment both hosted on Canadian servers, one of which also has unlimited email addresses that I use so that ad trackers are not tracking me. My phone number got out somehow and I have not gotten around to wasting the scammers time to get me put back on the scammer black list, I know that is not a US problem but I am sure the Google gets information from them to.
