An article dispelling myths about W Social, the new European platform that aims to rival X: it is a fork of Bluesky that shares many similarities with Eurosky and requires government ID to sign up.

It’s worth reading the whole thing. Elena Rossini consistently produces great stuff and this is no different.

Thanks for the recommendation, I usually don't read the articles themselves unless they say something controversial to fact check, but this was a very interesting and through read.

That’s lovely to hear! This article has since made its way to an MEP so hopefully the findings will also reach those in power so they don’t make the mistake of supporting it.

First time I read that stupid name. Is it W to go before X?

[–] egrets@lemmy.world 24 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Hilarious that it's Europe-focused but they've given it a name that's at least a little different in nearly every language.

I'll send you a link; do you have a Dáblio account?

No, I'm only on Weh.

Interesting post. Thanks for sharing.

I hadn't heard of this W thing. And this does not inspire confidence.

Thousands of years of written language, and you can't understand simple sarcasm without a neon sign
