Post guidelines

Title formatPost title should mirror the news source title. If you don't like the title of article, look for an alternative source instead of editorializing it.
URL formatPost URL should be the original link to the article (even if paywalled) and archived copies left in the body. It allows avoiding duplicate posts when cross-posting.
[Opinion] prefixOpinion (op-ed) articles must use [Opinion] prefix before the title. Opinion articles refer to articles that their publisher doesn't explictly endorse.
Country prefixCountry prefix can be added to the title with a separator (|, :, etc.) if the news is from a local publisher who doesn't clearly mention the country.

Aaaaaand pretty much any Linux distro looks and runs better than windows, full stop.

I switched to Fedora KDE Plasma or whatever it's called because I was so sick of Windows. It... literally does look better, lol.

Surprisingly it works pretty well too. It's not at all like the old days when I last 'tried' it.

Ain't ever going back. Literally no reason to do so.

This is a windows vista ass article

Yeah, well, Windows 11 is just Vista all over again (if not worse).

[–] LurkingLuddite@piefed.social 16 points 1 week ago

Definitely worse.

At least because they fucked over 11 for all the wrong reasons, whereas Vista was a clusterfuck because they were attempting to move past a bunch of legacy junk like the old driver stack.

who runs/owns linux.org...? kernel.org is the linux project site, linux foundation uses linuxfoundation.org..

Idk, but it seems to be the only one that provides a friendly UI listing all/most of the flavours.

Does it matter if it gets the message and help spread the usage of Linux?

Hasn't windows always run better with those disabled. I remember turning off a bunch of that stuff in XP.

[–] LurkingLuddite@piefed.social 7 points 1 week ago

Everything runs better without that stuff, even games.

It really only comes down to: can a human perceive a performance difference?

Animations off in a UI basically always results in: "yes"

Gonna give this a try on my work computer!
