It's plant sale week where we are! Our library and town food bank are both running plant and bake sale fundraisers this weekend. I've potted up a bunch of native perennials as donations for each, and will be spending my Saturday helping to run the library plant sale.

What's growing on with you all?

Cucumbers and tomatoes are getting nicely established, and the corn is starting to come up in the 3 sister mounds. I spotted the first snap pea flower today. Love this time of year!

I also recently tried spicebush tea for the first time, which was amazing - I will be thoroughly enjoying the 5 or so bushes I found in the woods out back!

That's awesome! We've been having nights dipping into the mid 30's (Fahrenheit) and I am hoping some things recover or I'll have a few beds behind.

Just planted a bunch of tomato starts of varying types, eggplant, celery, pickling cucumbers, and rattail radishes.

On the yard front, we did 5 new blueberry bushes, a couple winterberries, and multiple trees.

We went hog wild on larger stuff this year 🙂

That's super rad! You may already know to do this, but it's worth it to remove all the flowers and any fruit that may be already present on those bushes and trees for this year. It will prompt the plants to focus on putting energy into their stems and roots instead of fruits, giving you better production than you would otherwise get every following year.

Yupp! We planted 4 apple trees last year so this year is me hunting for flowers every other day! Which feels brutal lol
