Texas Democrat James Talarico launched his general election campaign for the U.S. Senate Wednesday by framing his Republican opponent, state Attorney General Ken Paxton, as part of a corrupt political establishment that uses power to serve itself rather than the people.

Talarico has given Democrats their best chance in years of winning a Senate race in Texas and has boosted their still-uphill chances of retaking the majority in the U.S. Senate in November. Talarico, a former middle school teacher and a state lawmaker from Austin, laid out a clear strategy for the months ahead: Litigating Paxton’s scandals to a weary electorate.

“Ken Paxton is the most corrupt politician in America,” Talarico told a crowd of about 1,000 supporters who packed a dance club in downtown Houston. “He has failed the character test. He has put his own interests above the laws of Texas. Those are not my words, those are the words of Ken Paxton’s fellow Republicans.”

He also sought to tie what he called the “rot” at the heart of the nation’s political system to the everyday problems faced by many voters, driving home the concerns over rising costs that have been part of Democrats’ wider messaging strategy for this year’s midterm elections.

“In America, we have an affordability crisis because we have a corruption crisis,” Talarico told the crowd.

I have high hopes for this guy. I think it'll be interesting to see how the right fairs with this match up. You have one guy who cheats, lies, and steals - PROVEN, and the only attacks they can come with for Talarico are "vegan, f*g, unmarried, and extremist." Nothing close to being true or even related to what the job is built on - just randomly conjured up words that the right easily latches onto because they understand them.

Will they fall in line or question their options?

He'd be a fool not to. Paxton has a criminally scandalous history. Its completely insane that he won the primary, and by a wide margin.

I'm torn on this because we already know that it has absolutely no affect with Trump. So maybe sticking to why he deserves the vote as opposed to why the other guy doesn't is the better track. Idk though, Trump is a bit of an anomaly.

Honestly can't begin to explain why anyone at all votes for Trump. All I can do is apply rational perspective to an irrational situation.

Yeah unfortunately Texans who still reside there are fucking stupid and Paxan probably doesn't even have to campaign to win.

But would love Texas to prove me wrong.

I believe the machines in that state are also rigged. Why Cruz wins every time as well.

Yeah unfortunately Texans who still reside there are ~~fucking stupid~~ mostly powerless and Paxton probably doesn't even have to campaign to win.

Fixed it for you.

The Texas elections are some of if not THE most tampered with ones in the entire country.

There's been more registered Democrats than registered Republicans for decades, and still the fascists are 99.99% certain of retaining complete and utter control of every lever of government no matter how corrupt, incompetent/maliciously destructive, and personally repulsive their candidates.

Cruz wins every time

Case in point.

I find it hilarious that these people think that calling him a vegan and yelling HAW HAW like Nelson is a talking point?

Same for the "he has six genders you guyzzzz!"

What's next, are they going to object because he interrupted while they were watching "Ow, my balls!"?

He doesn't need to stay sunny any more. The primary had a lot of party members he would need to work with after getting elected. He doesn't need to worry about Paxton the same way.

Is this the guy that ordered a breakfast without meat one time? Ridiculous!

I heard your cousin's mother's brother's dog's groomer's cousin's poodle is trans, I don't believe anything you're saying.

And by the transitive property, that means UR GAY too! 🤣

Hey man, it's a spectrum! A SPECTRUM

It's FABULOUS!

It’s like they only want power. Doesn’t matter if they are corrupt or not. Fascist love that combo. Never really works out for citizens.
