News and Discussions about Reddit

Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

Anyone here from Reddit?

It's been few months since I last used reddit, because of my mistakes. So I ended up here! Everything looks slightly complicated. It's not giving the vibe of Reddit, but it's good.

What is your experience so far?
Thank you

Practically all of us came from Reddit, I think.
I'm very happy here. I quit cold turkey, during the whole app API thing. And I've never felt the need to go back.

But I do feel I should ask: Since I left, has Reddit fully embraced txtspk?

Lemmy is full of ragebait. People are always "on". You essentially have to be your own moderator and block users, communities, and instances yourself.

But Reddit is full of bots masquerading as users. I get angry when I realize I've been tricked into empathizing with a machine using me to farm content.

Pick your poison I guess.

Lemmy.world may have ragebait, but every instance is a different experience.

"Because of my mistakes...I ended up here" kinda makes it sound like purgatory or hell.

But yes, a lot of people here came from Reddit, including me. Some traitors still return in private. We live down here in the sewers now.

It's been almost three years since they killed my favorite app, and aside from the results that pop up when I'm searching for something, I haven't really been back.

It's certainly not as busy as Reddit, but generally it's friendlier. (unless you support AI or fascists)

If Reddit was a packed nightclub, Lemmy would be the quaint coffee shop across the street. Not as crowded and less yelling.

Yeah, a lot of us migrated over. It feels a bit weird at first but you'll get the hang of it pretty quickly. Just have a look at the communities you can join that interest you!

Welcome!👍

Its cool here. I find out most stuff I find important. Obviously it isn't as big or active as reddit, but it's real. If you expect it to be reddit, you could be disappointed. If you're open to new interactions with real, engaged people. It's fantastic.

Not as slow as some people claim to be - there's enough daily content even filtering a lot.

Also there are different corners of the fediverse. If you don't like one, you can block it on your side.

Also Lemmy allows hiding posts. That sure is nice. =)

I'm here from reddit too.

It's different: Less content and breadth of knowledge, but more... personal?

You have an opportunity to make a difference by contributing to communities.

A big difference is that porn is isolated: Currently on fedinsfw.app after lemmynsfw.com fell into disrepair.

fedinsfw.app actually has a piefed backend, a lemmy-compatible protocol that some people like better.
