This is a weird year in terms of rain and temperatures. Hot may, cold June and long wet or dry periods. Many of my plants are lagging behind because of it, but are now picking up some steam. We're seeing the first tomatoes on the vines, the melons are getting established and the runner beans are climbing their poles.
In terms of harvests: we were able to harvest lettuce and now are picking delicious strawberries every day. Gooseberries and currants are also ripening.
My son brought a bean stalk home from school without support. It was the tallest in his class and he was so proud. But he brought it home with no support. It bent over in a few places and explaining it was not going to make it was...rough.
