Honestly payment processors shouldn't be able to do this but an alternative would be host it and take crypto ( I'm not a crypto fanboy)

If you can't host it then use torrents because these kinda games aren't exactly hard to crack.

Yeah, fuck the payment processors.

They don’t bat an eye at OnlyFans but turn their nose up to smaller fish like Patreon? They have NO leg to stand on.

You're wrong about onlyfans not being censored, it absolutely is being censored by the payment processors.

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 4 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Are they?

They seem to accept credit cards. And: https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/2025/01/24/visa-mastercard-illegal-onlyfans-abuse/77932811007/

I’ve heard of the payment processors trying to dictate what isn’t and isn’t allowed on OF, which is of course scummy. But I really think they’re having their cake and eating it here.

They are censoring what type of content people can make. Example: you're not allowed to do fisting or squirting, or anything involving "bodily fluids". Also in 2021, OnlyFans announced that it would ban “sexually-explicit conduct” from the site, citing payment processor pressure. That was obviously not done because of public backlash. The credit card companies are not anti abuse, they are anti porn in any form.

small correction: the credit card companies aren't anything other than fucking cowards. They don't actually give a shit, but there's a bunch of weird Christian fundamentalist groups across the world who have realized they can put pressure on these companies by threatening them with frivolous lawsuits, and the credit card companies have decided it's easier and cheaper for them to placate these lunatics.

They are not anti-porn per se. PP are sexual deviants themselves. But since they have an international monopoly on commerce, they essentially want to have sex slaves for free forever.

People seem to disconnect the Epstein class from the control freaks are one in the same.

Censorship. Why are businesses telling us what our rights are? Payment processors need to be regulated tighter to prevent this.

It's always weird seeing the pomplemoose/scary pockets keyboardist weighing in as a CEO. I genuinely like patreon since artists have been screwed by labels for decades and it represents an alternative,

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 4 points 19 hours ago

TIL. That's nuts.

This is what crypto could be for.

Eh, not really. Technologies cannot fix sociatal problems. Either you have no possibility of regulations/controls on payments, then people will buy CSAM with it. Or you have some form of control and who ever is in power can try shit like this 🤷

True democratic control might be best, but even then a majority could still oppose niche stuff for silly reasons.

Trouble is, cash you can e-mail became a wiggly line going up, so people bet on it and ruined everything.

Proper cryptocurrency would constantly lose value and be a hot potato people seek to get rid of. Readily available - valuable through exchange - aggressively encouraging that exchange.

I'll never forgive the techbros for fucking over crypto so hard. You're absolutely right that examples like these are a great reason why payment systems not bound by nations or corporations are good and important, but nobody is going to care anymore because they just see crypto as a scam.

I like some of the Jack Conte songs, but what does he know about videogames?
