The monochrome color choices, plus the light vignetting over the reasonably normal cityscape and the impossibly large and long bridge to (seemingly) nowhere imparts some of that Old Stockholm Telephone Exchange energy, a sort of "look at the improbable shit people built in the past, that had to have been photoshopped in, they really live with a bridge that big, just right there?"

They do, the bridge is huge, and I shot that from the Astoria Column about two hours ago.

Thanks for seeing my work!

Is this where one walks the Abyss?

[–] Tiral@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

That's an awesome picture.

That bridge is so intimidating to drive over, freaks me out everytime!

I'm fine with the bridge, but the steepness of the drive up to Astoria Column freaks me out.

For anyone like me who didn't know about the Stockholm Telephone Exchange Tower: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_Stockholm_telephone_tower

That is quite a big bridge! Nicely shot and edited, wonderfully moody picture.

It's a wonderfully moody locale. Great area for camping right across that bridge.

It’s not that great of an area, it’s literally called Dismal Nitch.

Actually I wonder what sort of Euro-settling explorer wandered through these beautiful places, just absolutely having a shit day: “fuck this place, it’s Dismal Nitch. That’s Cape Disappointment.”

I have driven across that bridge many times. The rise up there coming into Astoria always unsettled me. Going down it wasn't so bad, but just lifting out of the water towards the cliffside would get to me. Or it did when I was a kid and I just held that in my memory each subsequent crossing.

The amount of dead birds you see on it is always a little depressing.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

I’m glad someone else notices. Dismembered ravens all up and down it. :(

Damn girl, this one is a knockout.

[–] tanisnikana@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago

Thank you so much!

Isn't this the town that Goonies was set in?

[–] KingPorkChop@lemmy.ca 4 points 13 hours ago

The house is in Astoria. Other shots were filmed up and down the Oregon coast.

Sometimes I post my works in /c/pics cause I'm really proud of them and want more people to see them, than just the people who are in /c/photography.

It means a lot to me that you've wanted to come look at my art.
